A few weeks ago, I found two level 3 guardians in the Cosmodrome.

They were probably doing restoration, or some other mission. Anyway, they began to follow me around, and eventually one messaged me to tell me they were stuck, and needed help because they weren't too good at first-person shooters but decided to try their luck on Destiny, as they heard it was relatively easy to get used to. I though about telling them to get Star Wars Battlefront, because we know that doesn't take much skill at all, but then I reconsidered, because Destiny is quite dry with content. I told them I can help them through all of the missions. But first off, we went to the tower, and I explained basic Destiny to them, such as the Gjallahorn, no year 2 DLC, year 1 DLC, light levels, the original outrage at the story, what a year one veteran really is, Xur, and bounties. One of them had to go though because he was tired, so I couldn't explain more to him. I explained TTK to the final guy, and he said it sounded good, so he decided to buy it.
Yes, I know it's silly to buy all the DLCs first, but this guy seemed like he had the wallet and he just said it's extra content for his game so he wanted it.
He got TTK collector's edition, and didn't use the spark, playing it smart. He then found out about Eververse, one of those things I forgot to explain to him, and bought the 15 or 16 pound version, I can't remember the price. He got himself a dance, and a sparrow horn,(This was in the time of SRL) and in the package got the Lightrunner. He was very happy with his first exotic from the postmaster, a 170 bond. His friend got back on while we were playing. We explained the DLC to him, and the other guy told him how good it was and that 'It was worth the cash'. He said he'd buy it once he got used to the game and all, you know. We'll call the guy without TTK Joe, and the guy with it Cal. Now, the time came. After a further 10 minutes of convincing Cal to use the spark after he'd completed everything, we did our first mission, restoration. It brought back so many memories, especially "IT'S IN THE WALLS!" from Dinklebot. I even chuckled when Nolan North spoke those words. Super Good Advice gunned Riksis down pretty quickly, along with a nova bomb. Then, we ran through all of the story missions on earth and the moon in one day (About 2 and a half hours, call me sad but DattoDoesDestiny plays 24/7 and I was enjoying myself). When Nolan North said the infamous "We've woken the hive" ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hHYg-w57mA ), the sense of nostalgia it brought back was overwhelming. Anyway, as we went I explained some lore to them, because in Vanilla Destiny I went through lots of grimoire because I didn't understand much. Now, we got onto Venus, and as most year 1 veterans would do, I chose the Archon Priest, not just because it was more challenging than the Nexus but because I also hadn't heard Nolan North say "A CELL. FROM THE PRISON OF ELDERS." yet. Venus and Mars were both breezes, and the final mission reminded me how disappointing the game was, the Black Garden. Joe decided he was getting better, not amazing, but better and liked the general gameplay, something which many players fail to do. He bought TTK, and the two used their sparks as they were both level 24. Running through all TTK missions was also incredibly fun, to remember how hyped we were, but then a few weeks into TTK the community went salty, and the article from Kotaku, and the year 1s without TTK having nothing to do. I also was reminded of the Black Spindle's first discovery in lost to light and killing Oryx (Story mission) with my old Gjallahorn again reminded me of day 1 TTK. (My fireteam and I used Gjallahorn, Crota emblem and Glowhoo when taking down Oryx in the story.) Then, we did a few more strikes we hadn't done. Archon Priest and Sepiks Prime were the only ones we had done. Walking into that room and seeing Phogoth all chained up reminded me of the time I got TLW and Hopscotch Pilgrim from one Vanguard Dragon strike, and also bringing back memory of the Thorn.. year 1 players will know why. Seeing Valus Ta'aurc, and old friend, brought back memories of the time I managed to glitch interceptors through into the boss fight room and with 25% health left I drove the powerful interceptor boost into him, flinging him into the wall and finishing him, surprisingly. It also reminded me of the infamous cheese spot, and how OP Valus used to be. I also had a slight remembrance of Gjallahorn taking him down with 7 shots if solar burn was on. Seeing the Nexus reminded me of how quick it was, and all the goblins spawning. Seeing Omnigul made me get out my old Gjallahorn and silence her screams, as she got put at level 16. I also had memories of the rainbow burn, *shivers* Seeing Taniks made me remember three shotting the walker on arc burn if you hit it in the cannon (The payload of the cannon was foolishly stored in the cannon before fired, not generated like the devil walker, so it would all explode and deal massive damage) Explaining VoG and Crota, and also in the future Oryx, assuming the role of Han Solo in SW 7.
It's true. All of it. The Gjallahorn, the Warlock Sunsingers, the thorn, he vex mythoclast, Vault of glass
I'm going to get or 2 more friends on tomorrow to run the raids except King's Fall with them tomorrow. Hopefully, they'll learn quickly if we explain it and get themselves some awesome stuff. Thanks for reading if you got this far, guardians, and wish me luck carrying these 2 noobs through VoG! TL;DR: 2 noobs found in Cosmodrome, I help them they get TTK and we do that, along with all year 1 content including DLC, giving me a nostalgic experience. Doing raids with them tomorrow. Edit 1: I forgot to mention one thing! If you want to raid with us tomorrow, we'll probably be doing Crota first, maybe, like someone said I should explain VoG to them first (Obvious reasons). It also might have to be without mic because one of these two's game seems to become laggy and crashes when his mic turns on. Edit 2: I think we're trending. The support towards us has been overwhelming, thanks guardians! If you're willing to help out, please PM (Private message) me and I'll get back to you as soon as possible. I can't go through all the comments, sorry, so private message me for requests for help and requests to join the raid team. Edit 3: In the raid team, people with no/next to none experience will take priority, sorry. I know it's strange, but I think it would be more fun if we have people doing it for the first time and enjoying themselves, rather than a bunch of experienced veterans carrying 2 noobs through a boring old Crota's End Edit 4: Too many edits now, but anyway, the raid will be on easy, just because if we do go ahead it would be nice to just have an easier mode, because 5 new raiders can be confused if it's a hard raid. Edit 5: If you're going to apply for the raid team, just for nostalgia bring Crota emblem or any accesories earned in Crota. Gjallahorn, black hammer, or fatebringers are welcome as well, just don't plummet your light. Wow! For some reason edits 6-8 were deleted. Sorry. Edit 6: Apparently, they were sent away by two other rude guardians, I didn't know people were that rude to kinderguardians. Edit 7: I showed them the post, and obviously being slightly annoyed I posted without them knowing, after reading the comments they realized there are good people in this community! Edit 8: At the time of posting this, this could be one of the first posts in months to hit trending without a single hate comment. I never would've expected that from posting about my experience with 2 xmas noobs! Edit 9: IMPORTANT: Going to sleep soon, if you're interested about the raid I will never find your comment when I wake up tomorrow please now PM me. Edit 10: Phone notifications woke me up. You guys... it's late now, but I'll answer. The raid team is closed for now, while I answer messages. I have over 10 of you guys! I will re-open soon for the hardmode, if this post stays on trending for long enough I can hopefully open up for VoG and Crota's end hardmode. Edit 11: Sigh.. I was only asleep for 10 minutes. I'll turn of notifications now. Anyway, I forgot to add I took them into Iron Banner. They had borderline positive/only slightly negative K/Ds. Furthermore, raid team is confirmed to have no mic as one of the xmas noobs will get disconnected with sound, he has confirmed. I'm not going to question him any further. But it's Crota, so we should be able to do it nevertheless.

They were 28 or something (did it on different characters too) and one man the whole crota thing. They got 2 exotics (ghally and mida) the other the raid shotgun and armor. After that, they just trash talked to thieir friends and I left

      • You, my friend, are an awesome Guardian. Helping out "Christmas Noobs", is pretty great, especially going to great lengths to go through everything with them! I foresee a great friendship... I hope... between you three! Good luck, Guardian. May the Light of the Traveler shine upon you all during your Raid against the darkest of the Darkness.

      • Miss those days. Putting the rubbish storyline aside, the gameplay of pve is better than any other game. That is why this game will never shut down. PvE affects PvE. Not they are separate.

      • I remember helping these two people with Skolas and they didn't have the right gear and their internet was lagging them out but I kept perservering and after 3 hours, we got it done. Little did I know, they were amazing PvP players and they invited me to play Trials one night. I told them I never went flawless and they told me no matter what, they weren't giving up until they got me flawless. I went 9-0 that night. Always help guardians out. That's what this game is about. Its not a one man show. Its about lending hands.

At least you didn't bombard them with invitations and refer-a-friend requests like some crack head waiting to get his next fix and instantaneously abandoning them upon completing the Nightfall for the final quest reward, in turn leaving them in the wilderness of being forever Light 290 (approx.) because Kings Fall Normal Mode is a ghost town on LFG etc. Unfortunately for the new guys, Normal Mode KF is such a ghost town that the grind to succeed 300-310 Light has quadrupled. Without the middle ground that is Normal Mode, how long will it take them to have a decent Light Level to play Hard Mode and battle the elitist Raid requirements of players??

        • Encounters with new players are always wonderful. I was in the Scablands on Mars, doing some gunsmith bounties on my Hunter when I came across a player who was ~level 18. (Don't remember exactly) He and I exchanged a quick wave, but we wound up crossing paths over and over due to the route I took. I eventually led in to pointing to relic iron for him, general resources and such. Eventually Taken forces started corrupting the area, so the 2 of us had to kill the boss alone. It was just a pretty cool random encounter, how we were essentially back to back gunning down Taken left and right.

        • Bravo! It is pretty nostalgic when you see a new player - one with a low Grimoire score. I made a good friend from a new player who was a level five. We were both in the divide, and he invited me to play to help out. Turned out to be a great guy who became quite good at the game!
