Pay To Stop The Grind Event
So the new Halloween festival has you grinding for candy bags that may or may not have the masks you need to complete PART of the quests. A lot of you say the event is fun but that's not the point, the fact BungieVision has implemented this "pay to stop the grind" system is unacceptable. We need to stop this now before they take it too far, I can almost guarantee they will do this for Christmas as well. BungieVision is now treating destiny as an app game were you buy resources to speed up your progress.
We shouldn't have the ultimatum of either grinding or spending real money to get the items we need to finish the quests.
I don't care about grinding but being forced to spend real money to skip the grind is unacceptable in any game. This is not an app game!
Edit1: I appreciate new and fun activities we don't have to pay for first, but selling quest items to speed your quest progress is not acceptable.
Edit2: Yes I understand no one is forcing you to buy packages with silver, but BungieVision wants to psychologically force you to buy the packages. How? Well if the grind isn't enough to make you buy silver, we always have RNG in charge of that. Not everyone's luck is the same and I know a lot of you will receive duplicates.
Edit3: I have found out and don't know if a lot of the community knows but the blue skull mask cannot be obtained through candy bags. That means you will have to spend real money to obtain the coolest looking mask in the game, if the RNG lets you obtain it. This doesn't surprise me from BungieVision, I'll be leaving this "new app game" when fallout 4 comes out :).

Outside of the initial silver I spent ( bought one bag of each amount/type) i haven't received one single legendary (to even break down for a mask I wanna keep) let alone that blue skull mask. I grinded enough to get rares to complete all if the quests and guess what.... We dont get shit for completing them... Just more bags full of random goddamn garbage. Destiny/Bungie is nothing but a -blam!-ing money pit that leaves most of us with nothing to show for.

3 RepliesThe difference? You're not being halted by arbitrarily long timers. In fact, you control the speed of your progress, and there are a dozen ways to speed up that progress significantly. It doesn't take 12–24 hours to fill up a candy bag. 5 minutes tops, and all you have to do is play the game as you normally would. (while wearing a mask) Furthermore, even if you buy the packages, RNG still has just as much of a chance to screw you over. Anyone with half a brain would understand that there's ZERO benefit gained by spending real money on the Silver to buy the packages. (Unless you REALLY want that Skull Mask or the Thriller Dance, then go for it)

I find it pretty funny that I cannot complete a SINGLE one of the quests they gave me without buying things (and even that is a gamble). Every quest requires a mask I don't have. Bungie is big pack of liars. All they care abut is generating even more revenue. Not quality. Not user satisfaction. Not a great game. Just Money Just Money.

4 RepliesI'd pay for less grind. Not a mask and candy...but maybe hafnium flakes or some shit. I have a life and a job so forking out a couple bucks to save hours and hours of grinding seems ok to me.

13 RepliesI agree with you in spirit if not tone. This event is testing the waters, and is a shift in the proposed paradigm Bungie gave us. When microtransactions were introduced, it was stated they were for cosmetic things only, which is still true, BUT the only way to get them was to buy them. That's fine, I guess. With this event, now there are two paths; a slight grind or a way to bypass a slight grind. That's worth noting, because it allows Bungie to collect data on how many people participate, and how many people bypass even a small grind to get immediate gratification. It doesn't take much of a leap of logic to see where this leads if the numbers fall where they likely did. Bungie is a company that is trying to make money, as much as they can. If people go for this, it will happen. Simple as that.

1 Replyit seriously only takes 1 strike or maaaaaybe 2 Crucible matches to fill your candy bag.. hardly a grind in my opinion. like what, 1 strike is just too long and arduous? nah. disagree. and you know something else? if there are that many people so shitty at this game or desperate to complete these little Halloween quests that they pay real cash to get ahead... let them! it's only gonna make future content free, or so Bungie claims.. I'd love to get free dlc cause some OTHER sucker paid oodles for Halloween crap. I did buy the monster dance though. judge as you wish, but it makes me happy to "Thriller" at Valus Turducken.

ultimatum implies that you are being forced to do something. You are not being forced to do anything. You can choose not to accept the quests from Eva, and completely skip the whole festival if you so desire.

3 RepliesI am really enjoying the event. The issue that I have is that Bungie knows the people that play their game love to get new and exciting things like gear and loot that maybe not everyone has. So, they have structured the event in a way that you can really only make a few, if that, masks legendary unless you pay. So really people are grinding for cosmetic items that are going to go way in a couple of weeks unless they pay. My issues with the event... 1. Not making legendary masks available through rng. 2. Not putting glue in rng so at least there is a chance to make all masks legendary without paying. 3. Making the mask that they knew everyone would want unavailable unless you pay (this is how I understand it. I have been looking for confirmation that a rare skull mask is or is not available through rng...Anyone?) Many games are implementing microtransactions and that is not my real issue here. The issue is that Bungie has made a fun event at a fun time of year and instead of throwing everyone a bone and saying 'Here, enjoy yourselves and enjoy these masks!' they have said 'Here, grind for these cool masks and try them out for a couple of weeks, but if you want to keep them you have to pay.' Don't get me wrong, don't feel Bungie owes me anything, just feel a little deceived at the beginning of the event thinking that there would be a way to get all of these masks and keep them if I wanted to...for free, just like everything else in the game I get through rng.

Yes, pay-to-stop-the-grind is here and will become more prolific. This pisses me off immensely as I feel we have all paid a huge sum of money for a complete game, but are getting the candy crush version instead. I'm sour.

It tells its story with the delivery of a pin ball machine and focuses on addicting its players with mind numbing repetitive tasks. The purchasable buffs just make it more obvious. Join the Boycott of Bungie and Activision, as a perceptive player with standards you're headed there eventually anyway.

1 ReplyDo you realize that the quest rewards are only little bags with even more masks? The whole event is just for entertainment and being silly. If you want the flaming skull, then you can pay, otherwise just play the damn game. There is no "grind" for this because there is no actual end. You just play, get a few masks, play, get more masks, and by the end of Halloween choose which 2 you want to use your glue on to keep. Done. QQ.

I'm fine with it. The only way people actually paid to skip the grind is if they purchased the mask and turned destiny off. If they bought the masks, then proceeded to do the daily story/crucible for marks, or a few bounties, or a heroic strike for the first legendary drop, or court or whatever, then they didn't skip shit lol. I filled my bad 5 times over just doing the stuff I would normally do on any given night. No extra grind. People who bought those masks didn't skip shit. And judging from other rage posts, many of them plunked down a decent amount of $$$ only be f'd by RNG and then still having to "grind" for more.

Who's forcing you to spend real money? All the masks are attainable through the grind. Even the blue skull mask you can get with 4 papers.

Oh n that zombie dance sucks what a waste of 700 silver. They only do it to 1 side. Should've been 500 for being half arsed.
