What is the point of the blade dancer sub class?

It literally offers nothing better than gunslinger, for pve or for pvp. Titans have the same super but it is actually better in every possible aspect. You can't even use blade dancing on bosses for dos unless you spec razors edge, which is terrible. So what exactly is the point?

  • For PvE, it is a fantastic medic and add clearer. Out of the Hunter subclasses, it has the only healing ability, and can stay invisible for long periods of time with the right gear and specs. It was my go-to for nightfalls before ttk, and is a great solo class. It was good for getting through the gorgons labyrinth, and great for swordbearing in crota. For PvP, the sheer speed is awesome. In the hands of a good Hunter, its really hard to track. Bladedancers can clear rooms and control points with one showstopper, razors edge gives it a surprise ranged attack when shotgunners think they can shut you down. Blink strike was amazing for closing the gap before someone could react. It was my iron banner subclass. As a Hunter main, bladedancer was my favorite year one subclass, but in year two they gave us Nightstalker, which had almost all the benefits of bladedancer, but allowed for range as well. Better invisibility, same speed, but no healing abilities. Yes, 2.0 brought the downfall of bladedancer, because Nightstalker is definitely a more useful class for the roles a bladedancer would have filled, but it still demolishes in PvP.

There is none, it's the worst super and subclass. Stormcaller and Sunbreaker are it but vastly better. And nightstalker invisibility is better and more practical as well.

        • I love blade dancer for PvP, I only just started playing when TTK was released. I perform best in PvP with this class. That's just me though I can usually out play people with the mobility of this class and my ult allows me to take out sun breakers or storm caller OR take a point B back from the enemy team. Not to mention the rampages I go on with my sword and blink once I pick up the heavy ammo.

        • QuickDraw alone makes me prefer bladedancer. Plus blink and arcbolt are better than the gunslinger. And personally, I prefer arcblade better than golden gun. However I completely understand why people say golden gun is better, I just don't like golden gun.

          • Medic. With sealed ahamkaras a skilled bladedancer can stay invisible for long periods that allow them to revive teammates amidst chaos. Not much use in the current raid, but still handy.

          • Hate to tell you but in strikes heroics and nightfalls I switch to blade dancer for invisibility. Goncloaknandnrevice teammates it's invaluable.

From a pvp perspective: Once upon a time BD was amazing and OP. Then it got nerfed, and nerfed, and nerfed more. Then Bungie added Stormcaller and Sunbreaker subclasses. Both subclasses more OP than BD ever was. On top of it warlocks act like Stormcaller is the most balanced subclass racking in 3-5 kills each super. Titans think they deserve to be OP as Fxck because they claim they never had a competitive pvp class... End result: aside of invisibility and blink, BD is "almost" useless in pvp and pve now.

            • For the entirety of year one, Bladedancer was the best PVP subclass without question. Best mobility, best evasion, best grenade, top tier super. etc. Bungie made significant nerfs to the subclass in patch 2.0 and it brought the subclass back down to earth. Now you are probably better picking Gunslinger or Nightstalker.

                • Step One: Get 4th Horseman. Step Two: Crouch to cloak. Step Three: Run up to a major. Step Four: Skullf*ck the back of their head into oblivion with 4th Horseman before they even know you are there. Step Five: Stab whatever's left over to cloak yourself and get the hell out of dodge. Step Six: Dance. Seriously, has no one ever used a rogue class in any other game? Cloak, run up behind an enemy, hit them with everything you have, then run away... That's the entire archetype in a nutshell, and maybe if people stopped acting like every class is a tank and charged into fights like kamikaze death squads they might realize his...

                  • I have used my Bladedancer to revive teammates, constantly, and on several occasions when bosses have been on top of them or they've been mobbed. Keep super full, teammate dies, pop super, go invisible, revive, go away. Also POE mine objectives while people draw aggro.
