My dad says destiny is a satanic mind controlling game and is banning me from it. What should I do?

But just because Oryx is a big scary looking character with wings, does not make him the Devil. If anything, you could point out that you are fighting AGAINST the forces of Darkness and the monster that is the Devil-metaphor in this game. Reaffirm your commitment to your faith (assuming you have that commitment) and make clear that Destiny is just a work of imagination. Sadly, for many fundamentalists, everything is part of the God vs. Satan struggle, and everything that isn't inspired by God was automatically inspired by Satan. This kind of dogmatic thinking is very hard to debate with. I know. This is a large part of what made me the atheist that I am. Good luck.

Apart from others mocking you, you will also get replies to his answers here. I'll be one of the people that will try to help. He obviously cares about you, but sometimes people get too caught up in magical thinking & listen to others who are on power trips thinking everything is a "sign of the end times." It's easy to for some individuals to get hyped up that way until they've had several years of hearing about "the rapture being around the corner" & "signs & wonders" & all that deal. We don't be able to help in specific ways until we know what specific complaints he has (which I can tell you in advance are wrong & need to be corrected.) But he's your father, & he deserves your respect & patience because he cares about you & takes care of your needs. That earns him your loyalty & respect. So we'll take care of you as a community, but we'll honor him & treat his opinion with dignity as we do it. Deal?
