The jolly holiday quest is extremely hard, even though the reward for it is an exotic (the chaperone) I found it extremely challenging considering that the last word has been nerfed. Also the quest description said nothing about deaths in the crucible taking away progess... so not only do you have to get 100 kills in the crucible with a nerfed last word but you also have to do so while every death takes away a kill from your progress (1 kill = 1%) the quest progress also glitches quite a bit and often takes away more than 1% of progress per death and sometimes doesn't give you progress for kills... in conclusion this quest is absolutely the dumbest and most unbelievably impossible thing to do in destiny!!!

3 RepliesI am glad for those who were able to do it in so few games. But then there are those of us who do try and can't get anywhere with the quest (grinded up to 22% until I could no longer gain progress and started losing it instead...and i did try different days). But I have a solution thanks to SRL! Equip TLW when you play. Im not sure about finishing last, but as far as I know you just need to finish the race and you should get at least 1%. You only lose progress if you die during the race (and it's not a whole lot). One evening of nothing but SRL got me to 49% on that step (about 17 races in not quite 3 hours). It is still a grind, but it's nicer to be making progress rather than lose that precious progress because you suddenly got matched up with a bunch of try-hards who play all day.

From what I can tell, the three points of advise are: 1. Git gud scrub (anyone that says it is usually the reason Crucible quests are a bitch and a half) 2. Cheese it in Rumble (get friends to run at you while eating paint chips) 3.Bitch out in Mayhem (hide and camp, equip TLW, spree with heavy and super, unequip TLW, return to hidy hole) the last ditch seems to be to equip TLW only if you're about to win. The problem with these is that we shouldn't haven't to find these workarounds. They shouldn't hide info or make the system so confusing to figure out. This quest should work by You get kills while TLW is equipped and you get 1 point each (2 points if you get a headshot with TLW only). You have to get 100 points (hell make it 1000 if you really want, that's still doable) to complete it. Suicides count against you. done. I can do that, you can do that, anyone CAN do it. "but that's the same relentless grind we have everywhere else". guess what? so is having to get any amount of kills or wins or assists or minerals for anything. It happens, that's how the game is structured. Just make it not so arbitrary.

1 ReplyI have it equipped and my percentage isn't going up. I even got a few kills with it. This is stupid
-
Screw this quest and everything it stands for F**k the chaperone why the hell do deaths have to reset progress that is by far the dumbest thing I've ever seen on Destiny. Bungie you need to get rid of that I was at 15% and got knocked back down to 0% with one bad game

1 ReplyI just got this quest, and since I don't even have a TLW this is quite academic but it does look like bad game design. I hate PVP. I find it boring and a waste of my limited game time. I only play Crucible when the game forces me to. My KD average is 0.6 -- and it ain't getting better. As for all the advice about switching weapons -- it takes maybe 5 seconds just to open my inventory screen. Plenty of time to get killed in the Crucible, so the only safe time to do that is when you're already dead (and lost points). That said: I trudged through the sword quest in Crucible -- but ONLY because it's always progressing. Sometimes I couldn't even get the heavy ammo without dying. Sometimes I got it but didn't get any kills. But every now and then I managed one or two kills before getting gunned down. Eventually I finished the task. If there had been a penalty for dying and/or losing a match, I probably wouldn't have bothered to even try. Frankly, if only kills actually with TLW counted but you weren't penalized for dying IMHO the task would be better. Seriously, do you really want to design quests so people don't even want to try them? Consider this: It is mathematically IMPOSSIBLE for everyone to finish a match with KD above 1. P.S. I'm not so hot on the "wait for RNG drop before you can even begin this quest" aspect either.

I get no progress for this quest at all. none.
-
Yea, just played a game where 1 was 2.3 kd ratio with 23 kills. Result? - 27 PERCENT. fix this bs

3 RepliesEdited by Nicarus86: 10/12/2015 2:58:22 PMI was just about to pop on here to say the exact same thing (no foolin', I swear). The first part of the quest is the equivalence of making it to the last level of Halo 3 on Legendary, all skulls on, no deaths, and solo, only to get shot in the head by a grunt and the game going "Oops, you lose! I'm erasing your entire save data...see you in a month or two after getting everything again!" I learned the hard way how this quest worked when I came off the greatest crucible match I have EVER done (Reign of Terror and a bunch of Relentless; 99% I never make it more than 2 kills before dying). Had it up to 82%. Tried to finish it off only to watch it drop 30% each match. Talk about infuriating. I can already hear "Get gud, scrub" being prepared by the insensitive lot, but here's the thing; I know I suck at Crucible, will likely not touch Iron Banner for that reason. That is why there is PvE/Campaign stuff to do. That, however, is completely beside the issue at hand. The point is the game shouldn't erase the progress you've made either because you had a bad match or had lag issues. Did Halo knock you so far back in essence? Nope. You reloaded and tried again; you memorized exactly where all the enemies are and what route to take; you practiced those grenade and rocket jumps to the point of an artform. Essentially...you were making progress even when you lost. This quest, and other things like it, laugh in your face, slap your face, spit in your face, steals your chewing gum from you, and spits that same gum at you! Why the hell should anything be based on how lucky you are to survive the Crucible? We already have RNGesus to deal with in-game. Let's NOT add another random variable to this stuff! "I got it in two matchs, noob." I hear some of you say. All I can say is "Good for you, now scram before I take this auto rifle and jam it where the sun don't shine and pull the trigger." You have NO idea how badly I want to do that to some guardians after a match. I understand it needs a challenge, but come on! We do not have weeks straight of free time to do crap like that! We have JOBS and/or LIVES! How else can we afford to play things like Destiny? All I want to see is some straight-forward progress, no matter how badly things turn out and especially without relying on lucky streaks.

2 games with last word and it was done.

1 ReplyPro tip. Do this part during mayhem. Only equip the last word when you have heavy or a super. Go get a bunch of kills and unequip it. I thought people were lying when they said they did it in three matches but there weren't. I did it in three and a half.
-
Edited by TEXASGUNNER7: 11/10/2015 1:47:20 AMEquip it at the last 30 seconds of a winning match and get 3 % for winning also save a super for the end and equip it kill a few with super then end match without dying . I manage 5% a match two kills with super and then the bonus 3%

1 ReplyEdited by Mizo: 11/8/2015 11:14:17 PMSome say that this quest is more difficult than getting Flawless.
Use Smart Drift Control. The range stat is a lie and is more consistent if you take your time.
2 RepliesI suck at Crucible, but that quest was easy. The Last Word is still quite powerful, I don't see what's so hard.
-
It's not glitched, you don't get 1% per kill. It works on killstreaks and headshots
-
I agree. I think to make this quest actually completable (as I have it currently right now), take away the "deaths reset your progress" segment and give a small buff to TLW. Just that. Nothing else.
-
1 ReplyGot to agree! This quest is terrible! Why do you make quests that are crucible only??? Why can't you make 2 paths to every quest? Crucible or story based! Players choice??? Plus you like try to make players who don't want to to play crucible play with weapons which they dislike! (Maybe something you did with nerfing some sort of weapon class) head shakes!!!! On that line I guess you'll be nerfing pulse rifles soon??? Then the next weapon people use because you keep nerfing the trend! Will it ever stop????? Next you'll be Putting up signs here & there saying "mind the step" or "no running in the hallways! Rant over!

1 ReplyJust keep playing and it'll happen. If you can't get the gun, you don't deserve it. Simple as that.

Agree 100%

Easy as fack

I just got this quest and this part is not as difficult as people make it out to be. And that's coming from someone who is rather poor at crucible.

4 RepliesThis is all about medals. Double kills, trip kills, killing sprees. Believe it or not mayhem is an easy list to complete this step. Its where i did mine.
-
Edited by JD_Nemesis: 11/8/2015 11:11:36 PMPlus it's not a 1% gain 1% loss ratio. You earn/lose more for sprees

Guys it's really not that hard... Just switch to your secondary and rely on that if you hate TLW. If you're having difficulty here's some tips: Play conservative, run away, snipe, use your super for a spree, play team games that rely on objectives not just kills as people are much easier to pick off in these modes. Good luck
