EDIT: year one perks DID NOT need to be nerfed, because these weapons can only be used in "casual pvp" for nostalgia purposes. I understand that old weapons will never be as good as new ones when in modes where your light level matters. All these perks should've been left alone and new ones created to replace them on future weapons.
Like instead of ruining field scout, just make a new perk called "reserve ammo" or something that does what field scout does now
ORIGINAL POST:
"I'm gonna hold onto these guns because you won't be able to get them OR their perks ever again. And a year from now people will wish they had started playing on day one like me because you can't get this stuff awesome stuff anymore"
Nope! They'll just nerf your favorite guns so that long time players have no unique perks or advantages (no matter how slight) to a brand new player
Here's a few of my favorites from patch 2.0
Aggressive Ballistics: Reduced damage bonus by 50%. Increased stability and range penalties by 100%
Field Scout: No longer affects magazine. Reduced inventory bonus by 37%
Fitted Stock: Reduced stability bonus by 60%
Flared Magwell: Reduced reload bonus by 80%
Hammer Forged: Reduced range bonus by 50%
Javelin: Reduced projectile speed bonus by 50%
Perfect Balance: Reduced stability bonus by 40%
Speed Reload: Reduced reload bonus by 80%
Seriously!? I've purposefully been saving all that stuff so i wouldn't feel the same as i did when i realized the supremacy was the best pvp sniper in the game...and i deleted it...
But don't worry! There's absolutely no reason to collect items, because the next patch will ruin all your hard work and play time anyway!
I know a lot of people are already feeling this way after grinding strikes for days/weeks to get a hopscotch pilgrim before TTK comes out
Check out my playtime of how long I've had to play to get my current collection, then realize it was all pointless anyway

4 RepliesYeah I've got over 1000 hours in this game. Played everyday since launch. Preordered the whole game and two expansions... And I can ASSURE you I am not paying for the Taken King. I hate to see it go because Crucible was so much fun...

2 RepliesIt's 2015... Where every game now a days almost always has changes. If you expected everything to stay the same for the life of the game then you need to educate your self. Balance is needed and cheeses needed to be fixed as well as crutches. If you think changes weren't needed then you are delirious.

I'm with you. I spent well over 20,000 weapon parts making the perfect set of year one weapons to use for farming patrol for all time, and now most of them can't even kill a patrol major or even do half damage across the divide.

4 RepliesIts the way rpgs play like it or not destiny is a mix between rpg and fps with a somewhat mmo mindset. Just like with most rpgs when expansions come out old gear is not gonna be better than new gear. Doesnt mean your collection is useless now just not as good as the new stuff

6 RepliesI feel that moving forward perks that boost stats & ask for nothing in return could have been reserved for Exotics & Raid Weapons. The new weapons can have trade offs to specialise. Our old perks should have been left alone, that would have been the real gift for year 1 players. Feild Scout was hit way to hard! Useless now we have armour perks for extra ammo. I hope they recognise the mistakes here. Otherwise 2.0 was a great patch & variety exists in the Crucible now!

3 RepliesWhat a nerf fest... Why eliminate field scout?! No longer impacts magazine?!

1 ReplyTo waste your time. Didn't you know the game was to troll and piss you off?

1 ReplyYeah, this is why TTK is my last bungie purchase ever

4 RepliesThis is a new year and a new beginning. If we are honest, spending 1000+ hours on any video game is kind of pointless ;-)

2 RepliesThey're burning down the y1 house so everyone will leave and move into the y2 house.
-
Hey, look on the bright side.... they're also useless for end game content starting next week because they're not carrying over to year two!

Bungie calls it renormalize now.
