Honestly I don't like how cloaks have defense
I'm the guy who will wear a slightly lower piece of gear if it has a better aesthetic. Cloaks were the one exception that let me choose how I wanted to look. And now it's gone... Quite frankly I'm pretty disappointed in this change. Maybe it can get changed back but I doubt it.
Edit: To clarify, I am not whining about this, I'm merely raising a discussion. I am happy with the changes in 2.0 and TTK, and this is the one thing that I don't feel was a change for the better. Again, this is a minor enough issue, and I still love Destiny. I would just like to bring up a discussion to see how many agree with me, and maybe let Bungie know our thoughts.

Mark of the Wolves Titan mark = 30 defense Some cheap shit i purchased from the Vanguard = 140 defense. I like how the mark i worked hard to obtain is crap in comparison to shit you can buy..........pathetic.

20 RepliesI'd have to agree. This is always a struggle in large-inventory, stat-driven games. Fixed or unbalanced properties on most or all items drive the selection of equipment over top of aesthetic choice, forcing most items to become irrelevant or a handicap in a competitive play. I sometimes wonder how a designer feels about knowing fifty to eighty percent of the items they design will go largely unused or ignored.

6 RepliesThe 2 best looking cloaks are now useless. Shattered Vault Cloak Trials cloak. These 2 went best with Revenant. (Yes I'm aware that shaders will work better with new gear but I'm more attached to those cloaks than I am to weapons)

I'm sure there are going to be more cool looking high defense class items when TTK actually drops. I too was saddened to see a blue give more defense than even something like an Iron Banner class item. Makes no sense now, but later I'm sure they will make up for it.

A really stupid idea...and some have 3? Some 140 etc etc,even my vog one is less than a crappy rare that just dropped with 160?? They are idiots,I swear there taking the piss out of us.They can't be this crap,.

1 ReplyYeah, I have to agree with you there. I was okay at first with class items having defense values....then I looked at my Kellhunter's Hood. Skolas was -blam!-ing hard as hell! Why is the defense of a class item, that drops from him, only 3?! That was probably the only cloak I liked from HoW and maybe the Mantle of Perun.

2 RepliesTo be fair, as much as I like light ratings this has to be the one issue I find with it. I have a huge collection of cloaks, marks and bonds. I love collecting them and this just feels a bit disappointing really.

Vanity items should not have any meaningful stats....

I feel like it makes me wear a close that I don't want. More so than when you had to wear them to gain reputation for a faction.

I had an old, nothing special, blue cloak that I really liked. I never saw anyone else wear it, and I liked the way it looked. Now, it seems, if you want to have a top defense level, you're going to have to be a "clone" of all the other Hunters. I'm going to miss seeing someone in the tower and being like," Oh, hey....check out THAT cloak. Cool." Eh, maybe there will be readily available new cloaks on the 15th. I certainly hope so......

People should prepare to look like one another in TTK... does Bungievision even know how to progress??? I won't refund my TTK pre-order, but this is looking like my last buy in any Destiny product if they're just gonna recycle features of each year and just paint over it in an attempt to call it 'new'.
