Non Tracking Launcher
I dont have a tracking launcher like Gjally, Truth, or HoC. I have Hezens Vengeance fully leveled and I recently found my lvl 30 Truth(working my way to tracking). I have run Crota several times on my 32 Titan and Im a go to person for about 4 raid teams. Im accurate with my launcher. Though I have a question for many of you. Are you biased against players without tracking launchers? If so, why?

1 ReplyFirst of all, love the last name you got there. Secondly, you don't need a tracking launcher, Crota hardly moves. These people that say otherwise cant aim under pressure. I have G-horn, Hunger and a One Way Ticket that has all the perks as hunger just no tracking and it works just as well as the other two. Aim for center mass and if he moves you still hit him or just lead him a bit.

Just so i dont risk missin i use steel oracle for normal so i can use ib for boomers, but truth for hard and bh as i only need to snipe the swordbearer.. I dont have hoc or gally unfortunately

Edited by Poeghostz: 3/7/2015 10:40:20 AMFor crota hard, there is little room for error. If you miss a rocket, you may not get crota down fast enough for the necessary damage to kill him. Normal you can get away with it, but with randoms on hard not really.

The problem is that most people cant, mainly because of random unpredictable movements by the enemies, so tracking makes it so you wont miss. Basically having about 3 people shoot rockets that can track means that only 3 rockets need to be fires, if your one of the three and yours doesnt track and you miss because crota moved sideways, it can screw you up (because you have to take a second shot), it can screw the other two up (because if crota's shields come back they have to fire), and it can screw up the sword bearer (they are on their way up to a crota that is not yet going down). So in the end to make sure that such a easily fixable problem doesnt occur, it is best just to have a rocket launcher that tracks (your truth will do). Ps: i would not kick you for not having a tracking rocket, i just might be sitting there ready with my second gjallarhorn shot just in case (just a little worried).

I am slightly biased from experience. Not that i dislike non trackers but ppl just dont know how to use them. Crota being him and moving and what not ppl try to shoot at his torso and miss almost everytime. Know how to use it and aim at his feet that way if a direct hit doesnt occur then at least blast radius will help with damage

Now you have hunger it doesn't matter, but no I wouldn't let anyone on my team without a tracking launcher.

Yes many are because they have no skill in using them so anyone that can and does well is a threat to them.

The problem with hezen is its a level 30 rocket that maxes at 300 damage and you do have a CHANCE of missing your target (Crota) which is a pointless risk. If you have a 331 rocket without tracking then people probably wouldn't care as much. But you are using both handicaps with the hezen

As a person who recently found he liked running sword and is fairly decent at it, I depend on my fire team to down Crota when I give the word. The end of the Crota raid is a team effort, unless you want to show everyone up and solo it but meh, so when I see someone with a non tracking rocket launcher I do get a bit worried. I'm not going to, say, boot them for not having one I just ask if they could aim for his feetsies so incase of an accidental miss it doesn't go flying into the floating butthole in the sky but instead will at least clip Crota to some degree. I'm not biased against them I just know it takes a bit more skill to use them since you can't just aim, shoot, and watch the rocket curve ball into your target.

I just got HoC recently myself. So in my experience using a non tracking launcher, I didn't miss often but when I did miss it potentially ruined the whole sword. Having tracking just takes the guess work out and makes for an easier run for everybody. With that said its not an absolute must though.

What I don't understand is people without tracking that shoot directly at Crota just to see it go and hit way back where the Oversoul is. Aim at his feet, you dunces.

Did hard last night with a 31 who had an unlevelled (272 I think) one way ticket. Went ok, but there were 3 ghorns and a HoC to make up for it because the guy really was doing less than half the damage everyone else was.

6 RepliesEdited by Average: 3/7/2015 7:26:54 AMa friend of mine just invited me to a group to run the sword and help them beat crota. i assumed it was on hard, but it was just normal. One person had a truth, the other 4 had non-tracking rockets such as yours. if you add up all of my completions from deleted characters and those that still remain, i have over 100 completions between hard and normal. Not bragging. I say that to say this: it was next to impossible. In hindsight I should have just fired my gjallarhorn from the rock and took him down myself. i just could not believe that that many rockets were really hitting him and not taking him down, but it was true. There is absolutely no reason not to have a tracking rocket by now. The HOC drops rather frequently. Xur sold truth awhile back. The iron banner rocket launcher could be rerolled for tracking. Gjallarhorn obviously has a chance to drop as well.

I would rather you use a heavy machine gun then a rocket launcher without tracking. Or if u must....jump in the air and aim at his feet. If it's not a I text hit splash damage still helps a lot.

2 RepliesAs a sword user I get frustrated because I see rockets fly past Crota and hit the wall. Also Crota usually looks at me while invisible. (It does make sense) and he moves which makes hitting him without a tracking rocket a lot harder. You have very little room for error in the Crota raid. It's fragile.

2 RepliesEven tracking rockets miss him. I don't mind any rocket launcher or anything really as long as people are honest. What causes mistakes is not knowing someone's not shooting or hitting. It's understandable bc there are so many impatient assholes playing that'll kick people. But especially normal crota just say and I'll fire two gallys and he's down for sure.

I just tell non-trackers to shoot toward the feet. So it wouldn't be a complete miss.
