Am I the only one that likes the new exotic system?
Everyone is crying about having to level their exotics again but why is that so bad? I for one am excited for something to work towards and they did say exotics after the reset buff will level up faster. I like the fact that you can only do one exotic per week as well. That will only help encourage leveling that exotic up faster as you can focus all of your xp on it. I've read so many posts where people are whining about being able to purchase materials instead of farming them. My jaw dropped....bungie handed you easy to get upgrade materials and you complain. Now they are making you work to upgrade what are suppose to be the best weapons in the game and you find that unfair? This is a grinding game period. I find it extremely rewarding. You can focus on the fact that you haven't had a good weapon drop in weeks and then you finally get what you want and your response is "it's about time!" Or you can understand how the game works and when that weapon drops you'll have a more rewarding experience. It's exciting getting what u want, it wouldn't be exciting if it was just handed to you and you had everything max leveled in one day...I enjoy the experience and the grind. I would think by now the other destiny players would understand this by now.

It was brought to my attention that the "one exotic per week" was inaccurate. It has been stated that, "Xur will have a limited selection of exotics available for upgrade 6 Weapons, and 2 armor pieces per class"
I'm a little bummed I won't be able to "hand pick" my exotics, however out of a selected 6 I'm sure I'll be happy with at least one.

I'm only mad that I worked hard to level up my exotics...and now someone who gets a lucky drop will have one that's already better than mine..

1 ReplyI love it because these kids do not understand that the new exotic weapons will be v2.0. They are not being forced to upgrade. It's like finding an ice breaker 2.0 Now it's their choice to either work on this new 2.0 weapon or stick to 1.0

Edited by fjelwick: 12/5/2014 3:23:33 PMI love the new system. They released a screenshot of a Thorn with 302 damage WITHOUT and upgrades meaning it does more damage without even being upgraded. Yes you won't have Mark of the Devourer for a little while but they now take less materials and xp to upgrade anyway...

I'm neither happy nor unhappy. I love how they didn't just leave the old exotics behind in the dust. But at the same time the only thing I'm unhappy about is the fact that this requires twice the glimmer, coins, and exotic shards then before. Unfortunately I am a poor man when it comes to all three of those.

I had only hawkmoon and ice breaker fully upgraded out of 10 exotic guns and armours I have 3 out of 5 fully upgraded.. I'm not sure I like this new system, but I most likely won out of it as I imagine all the serious raiders have so much more

5 RepliesAll these whiners are doing is complaining about what Bungie does. That's what they did at launch and every subsequent thing that followed. Every patch and DLC that comes out, expect the same. But there is one other thing that won't change...they're going to play through it no matter what. They're gonna cry and cry, but they're gonna turn that game on an grind out whatever they have to, why? Because it's FUN! Who wants a game where everything is handed to you on a silver platter? IF YOU DON'T HAVE TO WORK FOR IT, THEN IT'S NOT WORTH ANYTHING. If you really want stuff that easy, go buy a Super Nintendo with Game Genie. See you out there crybabies!

As somebody who comes from a mmorpg (wow for far too long) background this is nothing and better than the alternative commonly used in mmorpgs which is make last tiers weapons useless all together.

8 RepliesI'm with you 100%. As someone who played an MMO, (Final Fantasy XI) for over 5+ years, this is nothing new. Heck, this is nothing new if you played any sort of game that provided you with new gear at increased levels...come to think of it, most guys are like this. I'm excited that they are even allowing us to keep some of our guns relevant for the time being.

the people complaining are the same little whining kids who have always been complaining. nothing is ever good enough and they are always owed something. yet this is how games of this genre have worked forever. i couldnt be happier with how the game is going. did these people really expect that once the dlc hit all thier gear would automatically become lvl 32? they should be happy thier aloud to even bring exotics on par with dlc exotics.

Nope, you're not the only one. As someone who's played wow every expansions it's nice to know you can get you're favorite guns (exotic ones at least) over. Yes you need to level them up again, but what would you like better? I've still got my glaives, hammer and thunderfury in storage and there is no way to use them in endgame. Here at least we've got the chance. Thanks bungie. Now as soon as I get hard light I can go with both that and Suros to the next part of destiny^^

But all they did was remove material farming that had no cap and make people glimmer farm with a ridiculously low cap. I think they should meet in the middle somewhere. Like reduce glimmer cost or remove glimmer cap. they shouldnt remove farming just to add it back in a different way.

5 RepliesI concur. People aren't looking at this from the opposite end. What if all your gear became completely irrelevant? You think there's outrage now. I for one am excited considering the amount of time I have to play is limited and anything I haven't fully upgraded already I can just trade in with the newer version. Everyone who's bitching are those with way to much time on there hands with 3 level 30's and everything maxed. Get off your step dads console kids and look at this thing in the sky called the sun...

There should be a differentiating factor if you are trading in a max exotic. For example: a max exotic doesn't require a shard to buy the newer one from Xur. A non maxed one does.

There is some truth to this, as I don't want to have my favorite exotics be immediately abandoned, but it does sting because we have known for months that there would be a way to upgrade exotics. I am curious as to wether the current exotic bounties will continue or be replaced by new levels or varieties.

1 ReplyI haven't any fully upgraded Exotic weapons (I got a bunch in short time and couldn't decide which one to level up, so all used almost equally) so no real hard work done, will be ok with re-leveling up I think.
