[POLL] Change to Raid loot system!

After many attempts at the Raid on normal and hard I've come to the conclusion many of us have, and that is "Man I'm the most unlucky person in the history of the world." Fear not however I have a mind blowing idea that if implemented correctly would greatly enhance the desire for players to do, and complete the raid. Step 1: Completely remove Raid weapons/armor from the item pool and replace them with a Currency that I will call Kabr's Memory Fragments. (could be called anything related to the VoG really) Make it so that 1-3 are rewarded from completing segments of the raid on normal and 3-5 for Hard. Kabr's Memory Fragments would be guaranteed rewards so fear not. Chest take it or leave it could yield either Raid gear or Memory Fragments, haven't really put much thought into it since they can only be opened once per week regardless. Step 2: Add a vendor in town (I was personally thinking Kabr's Ghost) who will sell almost every piece of Raid gear minus things like the Vex Mythoclast and Sparrow/Shader/Ship/player accents. Step 3: profit! Gear cost would be scaled but similar to that of other vendors so gear doesn't seem like it would be an endless grind to try and obtain, as your average run would look something like Normal = 5-15 Hard = 15-25 fragments. Example; Any Raid Weapon = 25 Kabr's memory Fragments Raid Helmet = 30 Kabr's Memory Fragments Other Raid Armor = 15 Kabr's Memory Fragments What are your guys thoughts? Good idea? Bad Idea?   • I think you have a good idea, but.... I'm a guy who can't always get on a raid, cuz of life and people just being nut nuggets and not accepting any invites. I might do a raid once a month, so when I do a raid, I don't want chatter white color, or just some shards, I need raid gear and exotic/legendary weapons for doing this long ass confusingly difficult raid that in actuality should have taken the place of many of the story missions! Grinding is cool, but Raids aren't a grind in say the patrols are, Raids are long intense battles, that need a better payoff for the work being put in them. Especially for those that can't always find a raid every other day like some folks on here do.

    According to a post on the shared url, the Crotas End loot system is supposed to be more intelligent. My hunter - chest x 1 and arms x 1 on approx 6 runs. I'm now up to 47 radiant shards and about the same energy. I'm not sure 2 sets of warlock raid boots is "intelligent" as it clearly hasn't worked out I'm wearing them.... Ok, we need radiant materials, but in about 14 runs I've had 1 weapon... all I want is a few decent raid weapons, give me a break Bungie!!!

  • The solution to this system is simple. It can stay exactly how it is BUT, THE SYSTEM NEEDS TO TAKE IN ACCOUNT THE GUNS YOU ALREADY HAVE AND TAKEN OFF THE LOOT TABLE. By this I mean, If you already have an Ice Breaker on one of your characters (or in your vault) then Ice Breaker needs to be taken out of the loot roll. If you think its necessary to have more than one Ice Breaker then the vault wouldn't exist. The vault is there to store and transfer guns from character to character. But hey if you want another one go buy it from XUR. IF THE SYSTEM TAKES IN ACCOUNT WHAT YOU DON'T NEED, then its just a matter of time (grind) before you get what you want. The way the system works now does not make sense because of time. The more DLCs that come out the more guns and amour there is on the loot table. The more loot their is the smaller your chances are of getting the gun you want. This is why XUR needs to start stepping his game up. Speaking of Xur when is he going to sell Heart of Praxic Fire? Or was that a PS4 exclusive item. I can't belief how all this time and effort went into making a game that plays the same on all platforms then PS4 players get more for their money. If I would of known that I wouldn't have bought an XBox One. Anyways back to Xur. We will see if he is randomized or not when the next DLC comes out. Since there are WAY more old exotic items in his loot than in the 2nd DLC comin out. If he is selling 1 new DLC item his first week, I am calling BS., it is not random. There is no way, unless they put a crap ton of new exotic material in his loot. Which we all know this isnt going to happen. Do the math look at the odds. Since all the loot in this game is random it shows their is no system what so ever. Grind grind grind, someone will eventually get struck by lightning and get what they don't already have.

  • It's not pure luck. It's statistics. Make 3 characters. Guarantee you'll get everything you need inside a month. If you don't have the dedication to earn 30 then you don't deserve it. Period.

      • Bungie doesn't like to waste time fixing the real issues with the raid. They say that you need 20 chatterwhites, 10 ships, and 9 sparrows for your all three characters.

        • No. I like the current raid reward system. Plus Kabr's ghost is dead and it doesn't make sense for vendor to have stuff that was lost in the vault.

            I think of this game more like Diablo than like a MMO or FPS. Its supposed to be a grind, day in day out you grind your ass off and finally, FINALLY you get that one piece of a set you've been trying forever to get. It should take weeks, maybe months to get your raid set. I understand you want it right now because, well lets face it, your a bunch of little brats wanting candy at the store. [spoiler]Grow up and work for it.[/spoiler]

              • I always hated pure luck based loot systems. Many MMOs did it and converted to currency systems afterwards. I'm sure Bungie uses the luck system to lenghten our playtime compensating the lack of game content. Sooner or later they should and will also convert or the game will die.

                    • I think I was extremely lucky with raid drops. I've completed normal, I think 4 times now, and have collected all my raid gear plus AE and VoC and even got my Gjallarhorn from our first Atheon kill! In saying that, I think there should be some currency/material system as well as the RNG factor. This way even if you don't get your raid piece, you are still making progress.

                      • Your missing the bigger problem, this system is completely fine and works perfectly in any other game with random drops. The problem is in those games you (normally) have tons of things you can do to get your end game items, we on the other hand need 3 specific items from a single source. This fact makes random drops terrible in this application.

                        • I agree, and made a similar suggestion back along. RNG is good for certain things, but bad for the distribution of gear based on commitment and performance, and thus makes every one who doesnt get the best item or ones they wanted from the raid feel neglected/unloved/cheated. a system that gives a token/mark is the best way to make it fair. particularly when raid armor is such an important factor for level. as for the weapons i say keep them as drops/sell them it doesnt matter too much. id rather they be drops or potential drops in addition, so you can buy them and or get them from drops.

                          • Absolutely Not. Better Solution: Some designated vendor provides a list of all raid items (with the exception of hard-only, and shader/ship/sparrow items) of which you are allowed to select one. This list becomes available after every 10 raid completions. All characters on a single account contribute to this total, Normal/Hard count as separate completions. This provides a guaranteed reward after a set amount of effort and still allows the RNG aspect of the raiding to take place.

                              • I actually love that one chest just before the Gorgon's Labyrinth, I've gotten the Ice Breaker and the Last Word from it! But outside of that, yeah- after you've run the raid a few times, you get tired of seeing Chatterwhite/Ascendant energy, and once you have Atheon's Epilogue/Vision of Confluence, the duplicates do you no good :( Regarding your ideas- I agree that the raid system could use a bit of a switchup, though not in the way you suggested it. I believe a little tweak to the RNG factor would be a bit nice, rather than eliminating gear from the rolls altgether :) Plus, this way we save Bungie a lot of wasted time+energy on a raid that people won't even care too much about in 2 weeks.

                              • The only thing that I really hate about it is that I get nothing but materials and same armor I have gotten for the past three or four weeks. If it would decrease the chance to get the same stuff a small bit everytime you get it, I would be happier.
