...you're doing it wrong.
>Day 1 access, with a slight chance of you getting the game a day or two early
>package tracking
>mint-condition
>can literally choose any pre-order you want (amazon, eb games, future shop, they all have online shipping, too)

I preorder games that I know will be awesome sauce. Examples being Titanfall, Battlefield 4 and Halo 4. And I loved every single one of them.
-
> work night crew > order all my games through Amazon prime > every time a new game releases I wake up and its already at my door

Edited by omg a banned: 5/11/2014 10:03:07 PMOops lol I am slow today.
-
You mean waiting for delivery and the possibility that it doesn't even get here on the day of release is better than going to the store first thing and picking it up, with mint condition and no wait time? lol.
-
Meh the game store is a 10 minute walk, I'd rather not wait for a delivery.
-
Edited by Crash: 5/11/2014 6:39:36 PMWho the hell preorders games? you won't even know if its decent
-
Edited by Frank Woods: 5/11/2014 6:32:10 PMNope. I remember pre-ordering ODST. Me and my friends, man, we all had plans to stay up and play a shitload of firefight. It was gonna be a blast. Except the game didn't come until 6 -blam!-ING DAYS LATER. By the time I got it, my friends had all completely lost that Day 1 hype. -blam!- you amazon. I will never pre order a game online again. Never.
-
Except waiting for the delivery sucks ass.
-
....you can still get that without preordering
-
If you don't run down to the shop, pick up the newest Pokemon game on release day, hold it in the air and shout HAAARAAAAAAH you're doing it wrong.
-
There's this thing called digital downloading. Besides, when you pre-order you're betting $60+ that the game you're getting will be completely worth it.
-
>implying amazon will always get the game to you early in the day
-
I stopped doing midnight releases years ago in turn for amazon.com pre-ordering ... the few times I pre-order games these days that is.

Edited by Saxoclone: 5/11/2014 6:26:19 AMBeing in college right now, day 1 access is almost guaranteed not to happen. The game has to be delivered to my local post office/delivery company, sent over to my university's main mail center, and then finally be sorted and sent out to the mail center closest to my dorm. I consider myself extremely lucky to have anything arrive on the day it's supposed to. In-store pickup is a way better option for day one. Also not a fan of extra shipping charges. I know it's usually only $10 or so, but... poor college kid here. Especially when I can ride my university bus for half an hour to GameStop and back for free.

I preorder most games online, nowadays. Only on rare occasions will I preorder at a brick and mortar store and that's if I want the game at midight; the last game I did that for was Skyrim. I'll do it for Destiny, too, because I want the physical copy. Now that preloading seems to be coming to consoles, I'll probably just start doing that for the majority of my games.
-
I've never pre-ordered a game. What's the point? I've always gotten games day 1 if I ever wanted.
-
Im a jew with my money so I don't want to pay 20 extra dollars for shipping.
-
Alright
-
buying $70 games from day 1 here in canada is a complete no no for me now. the last game i bought was dark souls 2, and that ended up being $76 or something. -blam!- that shit. i bought dark souls 1 for $5 on the 360, and ive put more time into that game in the past month than 80% of all my other games.
-
This is actually pretty true. Not to mention, no awful lines or crowds when you go to get the game.

So you mean to say if you don't have it delivered, rather than where you preorder, yes? In which case... If you don't pick up the game yourself, you're doing it wrong. Day one access, with the slight change that you don't have to wait all day for the truck to deliver it, no need to use any package tracking since you already have the package, mint condition (but seriously... that's on your list? Freaking 'lol'), and can literally choose any pre-order you want (since they all have stores).
-
Meh. The only games I preorder are Halo games. Unless Amazon is offering some better content/price, I go to Best Buy or Gamestop (again, depending on what the preorder content is) and pick it up launch day after reserving it.
>Day 1 access, with a slight change of you getting the game a day or two early >package tracking >mint-condition >can literally choose any pre-order you want (amazon, eb games, future shop, they all have online shipping, too)
These are all reasons that either are included with brick and mortar or unnecessary additions
