Boeing is directly competing with SpaceX to become the first private entity to send people to space, namely send American astronauts to the ISS since NASA had its wings clipped by Congress.
The beginning of the commercial space age may be here, which could mean a lot for humanities place in the stars.
Discuss.

There's a very productive Helium Isotope which would mean a lot for generating energy.

Maybe we would have the first moon landing
jk op
-
Yet another example of a program in better hands under the private sector

Can't wait to get to try all that moon cheese!

Without NASA we wouldn't have a lot of the technology we have today. It needs more than .5% of the budget. I wish people thought this stuff was more important

Hell yeah!

Think of all the mining we'll eventually be able to do, all the profits....this is capitalism done right. Too bad NASA isn't getting the funding it needs, that would certainly speed things up.

Edited by BlaqSpiral: 9/7/2015 10:03:42 PMDidn't Obama purpose to cut NASA's budget by 20% in 2012?

Yay! More Challenger explosions!

The real space race is the quietly increasing militarization of the area. Modern armies are reliant on satellite technology, so any conventional war is going to start by both sides attempting to knock the other's satellites out. The speed at which one can replace satellites -- something the US is working on -- is therefore critical.

What happened to NASA?
-
Yay go us

Are we still using petroleum based fuel sources?

Shoutout to capitalism.

MARS COLONY ON A COMMERCIAL SCALE COULD BE A THING!!!!
