Even though NASA developed the technology to go to the moon and back in less than a decade using tools and equipment that are primitive by today's standards.

I wouldn't say better hands, but the private sector working along side nasa is a good thing. However if we let profits purely dictate the direction of space exploration, we would severely be slowing our own progress.
