Best Hand Cannon? is it Thorn?
What's the best hand cannon? I went through the pain of getting Thorn. Though it looks cool, it sucks. Reload is slow.
Can anyone confirm damage for fully upgraded Handcannons?
Handcannons are hated on already. My problem with Thorn is getting it. It is a hard bounty then you get one of the coolest looking weapons in the game that just does not pull its weight. You have the Last Word and Hawkmoon that can be obtained a number of ways and it is better than Thorn. You actually have to earn Thorn by finishing the long bounty.
since this Post started I have acquired TDYK, Timur's Lash, and Hawkmoon [finally]. I also have been using Thorn a lot. My feedback is with TL, you can get great unique re-rolls through the IB reforge system. Thorn is funny to use! Shoot at the ships and you'll see what I mean. Overall it is actually very powerful. Great impact. Easy target precision acquisition. By far though, Hawkmoon is the most balanced. Hawkmoon has ridiculous range and accuracy.

2 RepliesIt really varies on your play style. The Last Word is meant more for a fast pace type of player. The Thorn is more for that player looking for the precision kill. Basically more conservative. While the Fatebringer is more of the crowd control. I think of it more of the raid type. Then there's the Hawkmoon. It has a pretty big clip and it there's 3 bullets(completely random) that cause more damage. So there is a bit of luck involved. THESE ARE MY OPINIONS. OBVIOUSLY NOT EVER ONE WILL AGREE. So, don't be dicks.

It seems to be a toss up between Thorn and Hawkmoon. With The Last Word a close second. At least that seems to be the forum consensus.

Mine came with Zen Moment, Flared Magwell, and Luck in the Chamber and just owns face. Can kill people at sniper rifle ranges easily. Its like Hawkmoon Jr but its a Legendary so you can bring a Gjallahorn to the party as well.

2 RepliesThorn is great in PvP, if you can make those shots count. But I'd have to answer Hawkmoon. Fatebringer is likely just as good, and TDYK is definitely a good substitute. Then there's the Last Wors, which is fantastic for CQC... in PvP.

Trash is trash.

i have both thorn and last word. yet haven't upgraded TLW yet but so far I like it more

For exotics Hawkmoon is best thorn and the last word depends more on playstyle

Depends what you want it for. Timur's Lash has the most damage per round, both in terms of head shots and body shots. Fatebringer does arc damage and gets both explosive rounds and firefly, which makes it my favorite as a PvE guy. Hawkmoon has great range and a huge mag, so it's probably best for sustained damage. The Last Word has the highest damage per second, but has relatively low damage per round, terrible range, a small mag. Thorn's damage over time is great for eating through shields, but it's got a really small mag and slow reload. It's just a question of what you want out of your hand cannon because they're all "the best" at different things. If you just want overall utility rather than specializing in one aspect though, I'd go for Hawkmoon or TDYK if you'd rather keep your exotic slot open. Other than that it's more or less a matter of taste.

My personal favorite is timur's lash, I've got one fully upgraded from last iron banner with awesome perks. Hits like a tank. But I have a feeling fatebringer may become a new favorite if I get one.

Fatebringer is the best because it is legendary. If it were exotic, than probably Hawkmoon would be the winner.

I believe a fully upgraded Fatebringer does 1.5k damage crit against a level 28 vex. That should help.

1 ReplyEvery Hand cannon outside of the raid weapons are all the same. They May vary in damage reload speed and it fire rate but when maxed out they are all hand cannons. If you have your heart set on a hand cannon I would suggest the fatebringer just because of its arc damage that's an advantage against other hand cannons with kenetic damage. The downside to this weapon is it's a raid weapon and can only be drop loot. Its a very nice weapon. Its the only one I've enjoyed and was able to use successfully.

The Last word is great (i'm on Xbox so can comment on the hawkmoon). However, Neither the last word or Thorn are worth your exotic weapon slot in my opinion. Fatebringer is a considerably better and more practical weapon than both. As is the Devil you know. And they are both legendary weapons.
