I now see why people say "fake 30"
So Last week I completed the raid for the first time on Normal. I met a few really nice people on here who were showing newbies the ropes from a fresh start. At this time I was a 29, with IB boots and gauntlets, an exotic chest and a Vangard Helm. I was lucky enough to run the raid on a Sat night/Sun morning so I completed it again with both my characters the following Tuesday. During my second run I received a raid chest piece and swapped out my exotic Helm for my Vangard and switched over to the raid Chest and quickly maxed it out, getting me to lvl 30. So a couple nights ago I was in a team to do the raid agin on Normal, since I'm still new to it and one of the guys in the fireteam suggested we run it on hard as we were all 29's and 30's. I told them that I had never run the raid on Hard yet, never used the relic and never did the portals when you have to take out the gate keepers. "No problem" they said, "don't worry" they said. Well long story short, we didn't get very far at all because of my lack of knowledge and little experience in the raid. I don't agree on the term "Fake 30" but I definitely see what they mean by it since before IB you can only be a 30 from the raid. Anyway, I felt like shit and now I know I'm not ready just yet.
Edit: One thing too, I don't condone the term fake 30, nor do I consider myself a fake 30 either, because regardless of how I got there I still put work in. And my situation, what happened to me, was the definition of the term "fake 30" that people were using, referring to the fact that I was a 30 with little to zero raid experience. The term should be something like "not ready for hard raid, but still put time in 30." Kinda long, I know. Or "really good at other aspects of the game just not the raid 30." Also a little long.

2 RepliesTo be fair I think too much emphasis is placed on fake 30 being what gear you have on, in my opinion what gear you wear shouldn't matter, I am level 30 with IB gear but I have ran the raid loads with two titans ,I have my second on level 29, just need the same bit of raid gear for both ,I help new players through the raid when ever I can, I take 29s through on hard (also some 28s), that to me is what being a real 30 is all about, I have even helped people through the raid and they have got their raid armour and I got the same old shit, if you was on Ps4 I would have helped you out no worries.

7 RepliesIf you press the start button and look under light does it say "fake 30"? If not then there is no such thing as fake 30. People use that term to make themselves feel more important. Everyone has a story of how they got to 30. Doesn't matter if you use ib armor or vendor armor or raid gear. If you reach 30, then you've reached 30

The only way you're going to learn how to do the Raid activities is to do the Raid activities, man. Everyone had to learn at some point. There's a learning curve for everyone, so go back in, run it again and get some practice.

Grimoire score over 2k, you're good dude. Just put a little time into learning the fight mechanics and go back with a good group. You'll get it.

NO you are just a 30, Fake 30 is geared towards checkpoint hoppers who just got in with others and hid while the team cheesed the raid resulting in gear drops and them becoming 30. These people are fake 30s and are a liability as they are 30 but know nothing of what to do in the raid. Keep going and grinding bro you'll get there

Developers always add new ways to access content. You made it that's all that counts. Get in a group that's better at teaching and you'll be fine. Also don't run the raid on hard first. Do normal first till you get the mechanics down. Having two runs a week will help you learn the differences.

Well with the new dlc we don't have to worry about the term anymore...new hotness is 32

I agree, "fake thirty" is a meaningless term. Just do the raid on normal a bunch of times, you'll learn the mechanics quick enough. Just get familiar with all the roles, practice with the relic, etc, and then start hitting the hard mode. You will probably have a hard mode completion faster than you think.

1 ReplyYou are a troll or a mindless sheep.It takes one run of the raid to understand it.Does it say fake 30 next to your character .Your ib gear was earned.Are you fake 30 in pvp? Are fake 30 in strike?The ones QQ are the same babies that couldn't last 10 sec in ib/get void kills for thorn.

Do it as often as you can, regardless if you already have your rewards for the week. You will get the hang of it in no time!! Also, try to find a group of regulars to do it with. Randoms can turn out okay, but it is much, much better to have a group that you run it with all the time. You get to know each others play styles and who is better at what [even though everyone should be able to competently handle all roles]. Good luck!

I know kids being 30 after their first normal raid run(with exotic helm ofcurz) its just bs imo. You can only recall simebody exp in tje vault by playing with 'em. And remember the pro raiders once were as unexperienced as guys that beat it once so far.

Dont listen to any of the BS. If you get to 30 by investing hours of time doing everything bar the raid, youre more than deserving of being lvl 30. The raid is just one part of the game, youve had to sling hours into all the other parts. Carry on guardian!

At least you finished the raid. Every time get to playing it....something freakin happens. I thought i was going to finish it Friday for the first time. Emergency came up with my mom. Had to get her to the doctor. I'm about to give up on the raid, cause I just can't finish it.
