Hey all, I've stayed away from the loot cave because I want that fun and excitement of random drops. For those of you who have farmed, has it ruined the experience for you? I'm really enjoying the game, though the PvP is only sort of fun for me, and I look forward to buying/looting legendaries the old fashioned way. Anyone else?

For experienced RPG/MMO players, its nothing different than a normal day. For experienced FPS player that hasnt played MMOs, its seems to be complete blasphemy... Im experienced with RPG/MMO and FPS, so im laughing quite abit lately.

No the luck based drops ruined the game. Why waste 20 minutes on a strike getting nothing when you can do nothing and still get nothing? When bungie learns how to make an mmo ill leave the cave. Until then.

Edited by kreox09: 9/23/2014 8:53:28 PMWhat is it with this misconception that all we do is sit in front of the cave farming...? When I log on, I do bounties, daily story mission followed by some strikes and pvp. Once I've done all of this, then I will go do some farming. So to answer you're question, no it has not ruined things for me, it has actually made the game better. Instead of jumping off destiny I say "I think I'll go farm for a while" I have actually had some of my best in game experiences while farming the cave, this includes meeting new people, being able to actually get gold from a public event without gunning like a friggin madman to kill the mob in time, and in general just dicking about. Also on a side note, a lot of people have been screaming this is an exploit and cheat. Firstly, people need to go play a conventional mmo before spouting that crap. Secondly, I haven't got a link available but bungie have already stated that this is in no way against the TOS, preventing people from farming by trolling/griefing however is, and will ultimately earn you a ban.

Where is the loot cave? New to this farming business
-
no it doesn't ruin the game. Farming is an essential part of games like this. It helped me alot to get alot of strange coins
-
Nah I don't think so but its rather funny that other issues of the game seem to get ignored on this forum yet everyone feels the need to post 30+ threads about a -blam!-ing cave everyday on this forum trying to act like they are concerned when they honestly aren't lol
-
I love The Cave. I more so use it to upgrade new armor and weapons. It's pleasant downtime with buddies, and the added cluster -blam!- of Hive and Fallen majors all sammiching you in the middle of their fight, plus the occasional public event make it a great spot indeed
-
Yesterday myself and 4 others got crushed by a warsat as we farmed away. The day before we got involved in a massive brawl between the Hive and Fallen. Nothing but good times! The cave is mistery, excitement, love and life. It's waiting for you. It's waiting for all of you.

Anyone farming the loot cave says they do it cause it makes the game better but really there just SOL and can't earn there gear I don't care if you use it but when it come to iron banner and I'm destroying kids with my EARNED gear don't cry like a little bitch.
-
I'd love a yoda type figure to pop up in the cave from time to time steal your best weapon or armour saying "remember your failure in the cave" That'd give the farmers an element of risk.
-
Nope. I spent 30 minutes at the loot cave, and decided I've had more entertaining root canals. I do wish though Bungie would have parsed the game so that only big bosses would drop rare/legendary/exotic Engrams. At least boss farming might be a challenge as compared to mook farming.
-
No. This game was already a horrible mess.
-
Of course it's not! Because of the loot cave the destiny community has an army of 'Smeagles' in a cave looking for their 'precious' (engrams) for the rest of us to go laugh at.
-
No, it actually increased it's value. The cave actually drops items.

Edited by hellcat420: 9/23/2014 8:10:06 PMno, the loot system and the 20+ levelign system in this game is ruining the experience for me. the loot cave is what redeems it.
-
Edited by Tekn0z: 9/23/2014 3:55:59 PMThe loot system is broken to begin but I don't care too much, but when Iron Banner is opened, then we'll see even more complaints. Basically, Iron Banner will be a farmers market - too bad Bungie's game is so broken with regards to loot and they are completely silent about it.

I think it's ruining the game. Let's not fool ourself. Destiny is very much about gear. If you you don't have the right gear you don't level up. Do more dmg or can take more damage. And you can't access raid or higher difficulty levels. That said you still need skills. But gear is a vital part of Destiny. So as I mentioned, yes I think it's ruining the game. It's giving allot of players gear with little to no work for it. It's taking away the reason to play the game as intended. I went to a loot cave yesterday to see what all the fuzz was about. It took me about 10min to get a exotic sniper rifle. First I was really excited to finally get something cool. But that feeling went away fast.. I earned it by standing in front of a cave shooting low lv mobs. Something not requiring anything of me as a player.... As a mmorpg player I know how the feeling of going up against hard to impossible odds. Winning over the enemies and finally getting something amazing to show for it. It's a great feeling to have accomplished something difficult and having something to show for it. That is gone and missing from Destiny. And the more players getting loot from farming the harder the task of making it all right will be for Bungie.

Activisions greed has ruined the game for me.
-
No, people constantly making new topics asking the same thing are ruining the forums. Stop cluttering up the forums.
-
The loot system is ruining the game, the cave is secondary to that
-
It's an exploit, based in the current RNG loot system and I'm against it. That being said, I've found the same -blam!-ing legendary scout rifle FOUR TIMES while doing strikes. Can I please get something else?! The loot system is absolutely broken and it's starting to frustrate me to the point where I may just sit at this cave and see what happens. But, I can't bring myself to do so when I watch these people doing it. I just feel like they don't deserve any if the gear they may get from it. For parts to upgrade, sure, that's fine. But some of these drops are legendary items and that's bullshit for those of us that play it straight and get nothing.
-
I only do it because I don't have much else to do. I'm Vanguard level 3, I am capped on Vanguard points, I hate PvP so I don't do it, I already farmed mats on other planets to upgrade my gear, already ran the strikes, daily, weekly, etc.

Blue cave is like a casino slot machine
-
"Fun and excitement from random drops" because repeating every strike and hitting rock bottom is fun
-
Answer to the question. No. I can still kill lvl 26s with my lvl 7 titan. Gear is only a small part of winning.

Edited by Prozog: 9/23/2014 11:54:40 AMLook, if you want to out DO the loot cavers (Which is all you guys are really concerned with), go play 1st moon mission on as hard as you can and get X3-X4 the drops that the cavers do. Done. P.S. It is still random, and not really because it is based on HORDE killing. So the bigger the horde the better the chance.
