Why is it so hard to manage a clan?

This is the first game in a while a majority of my friends are playing. Getting them into my clan is the most arduous process ever. Not only can I not find a way to invite them, it's all done on the website? So they have to go to the site, join a group manually and then set it as their clan manually? So weird.

Also, is there even any benefit to being part of a clan? I mean, it looks like you still have to be PSN friends to even join up on a strike or mission. This is pretty fail. Luckily the game is good.

I mean, with a dev company like Bungie, I'm sure they see a value for them to manage clans this way, but it is a hugely aggravating at times, everything from having to give instructions to new members from where to find the "Request to join" and "Set as Xbox Clan" buttons and then "No wait - they closed clan features, remember to comeback and do it all again on the 9th", "Hey come do all that stuff I need to re-explain" to explaining to them that the Destiny companion app is utterly useless for doing clan stuff on. My clan has actually outsourced to a separate chat app for a clan chat since none exists. EDIT: ^^^ Which I think is noteworthy since we're a small clan (27) and the clan system still wasn't enough for us. On the other hand, putting a system into place that works in junction with the Microsoft and Sony networks sounds absolutely, ass achingly, not worth it. It would need to be handled independently of their stupid consoles, so the current system is Bungie's answer I suppose. I think a solution to this would be to make a snappable Destiny app for the PS4 and XB1, a portal to your "clan home". It'd simply be a convenient and non-invasive extension of the companion app as it stands... but hopefully a little more fluid. Of course this would require even more work, on a project that has already been a -blam!- ton of work.

          • Agreed. And then finding other people to join your group/clan is tedious and frustrating. Hopefully, this gets fixed soon.
