MY METHOD FOR FAIR TRADE

here is a type of trading i think would work. no not the kind of trading where you can just throw gear around all willy nilly, but a more strict trade mechanic that requires items of near equal value to be traded. so what i propose here is fair, and non game breaking trade system. lets say some one has an exoctic gun worth 5000 glimmer / 500 marks what ever the exchange rate works out to be and i want that gun. in order for the trade to go threw i would have to put up gear near equal to that amount. so for example, lets say i have a rare lvl 15 bazooka, and my friend has a rare lvl 14 machine gun. i dont want the bazooka and he does not want the machine gun so we would be able to trade those to each other. we would not be able to trade something for nothing, and would not be able to trade items with to large a gap between them. edit: people would not be able to just straight up trade glimmer or marks for items. thoughts?

I have a job, 3 kids and a wife. Only play when I can squeeze it in on a day off at night. I think having in game trading between players sounds great, but realistically is a bad idea. In many MMOs with trades there are people that maliciously take advantage of the system. For example: "Bots" or programmed AIs. The bots are usually used to stay in the vicinity of respawning enemies. They repeatedly kill these enemies automatically upon appearing to gain the XP or loot for the owner. Another type of bot will go around to known farming points on a map for the sole purpose of collecting materials. What's so bad about that you say? Well they use the currency they've attained to go and purchase weapons and trade it with gamers for real world cash. So player "A" will buy a legendary gear from a sell bot for $100. These bots ruin the game experience and the in game economy. Many people hate the pay to win systems in game and essentially that is what can potentially happen in the hands of the wrong people. Even if Bots are not used and real people start doing these things it usually does not end well. Said person promises a buyer a certain equipment for $50. The cash transfers over but the equipment does not. The kid that lost his $50 calls the police saying he was wronged. Who's the police going to arrest? John smith from planet Zulu? Edit: The real world cash I'm talking about is usually done out of game through a system like Pay Pal

  • The release for the game is September 9th, Kids will have homework and school daily and won't have off except weekends unless they do what I did when I was a kid and sneak in some time :). Except for those lucky few who don't go to school or work or etc.

  • Less time you get to play in each sitting just means that you get more real world time before you're done with the game. You know what's fair? You earning your gear like everyone else.

    •
some people have to work, they own homes, go to school, have families, etc... other responsibilities that will prevent them from being able to put in as much time as some of the more free lived individuals on here.
So? That's literally the dumbest reason I can think of.

      • I should be able to give the exotic gear I will never use to friends who would use it for only 1 glimmer.

            • Dumb idea cause any one off Craigslist/ebay would be buying items instead of earning them. You want a trading system fine!! You can only trade commons and uncommon weapon an gear! No rare/legendary/exotic trades! That would keep the standards of what the developers are trying to create! A world were every one works and earns there amazing gear!

              • You know, getting an unwanted legendary weapon might actually encourage people to try out the new weapon type, instead of staying with their Auto Rifle. Beside, It still wouldn't deter farmers. Have a Legendary Pulse Rifle, and nobody wants to trade for the Auto Rifle you prefer? Luckily FarmerBoyNotFromChina has a large collection, and will be willing to swap for a small fee, Visa and Paypal accepted.

                • The only type of trading I would even want(which I'm fine without cause I'll be playing this game like crazy.) is, if my friend and I play a raid/strike over and over trying to get a drop, and my friend gets what I want and I get what he wants, we should have 1min to trade/swap rewards. We still earned it, and we booth get to help each other. This would also be a nice way to make friends and build trust with fellow Guardians. Would make it easier on everyone that wants to help new players in the game. After you leave the round all trading and swapping should be locked and over with. I'm for this but I'm ok if they don't add this. (Down with gold farmers!)

                  • I would only get behind trades for the same rarity gear. That way, if you earn a legendary gun, but it isn't the type you like, you could trade it and still have earned a weapon of that tier. That said, forcing you to keep it may get you to use something you otherwise may have not so I am fine with it.

                    • Nah, you should have the freedom to trade whatever you want, IN MY OPINION (magic spell to ward off flame war starters). That way, I can give my buddy who's new something useful and not complete and utter horseshit. A.k.a. Galahad-B

                      • I'm hoping that bungie will not implement a trade system. No matter how hard you try to regulate it, it gets abused. Just take a look back at any game with trading. Your idea seems like the best one yet but there is always someone who can find loopholes or glitches to ruin the trade system. Which would then ruin the game.

                      • I see one loop hole in this and sorry if this has been addressed already, how would this stop multiple items. if something is say exotic then what is stopping me from trading 3 or 5 uncommons to equal that glimmer or mark price? would you put say a 1 or 2 item limit so someone cant trade 4 items to equal it?

                      • Bottom line is trading will lead to cheating a duping it can not be aloud in Destiny ever. Humans are the problem not trading.

                        • There are going to be an unheard of amount of weapons to choose from in this game and giving a little freedom to make our Clan fire teams more efficient in Raids would be more practical. What would you gamers say to a system where you could only trade Weapons within the same Tier, (Common, Uncommon, Rare, Legendary & Exotic) 1 for 1 ratio & the same LvL of the item. The weapon would have to be completely upgraded and locked in. This will encourage players to try different weapon out and get a feel for weapon before they decide to spend their time upgrading a gun before they trade it away. We already know higher LvL weapons will require more time, items & experience to master. Each weapon has different kinds of scopes and rounds that can be modified once its locked in. Another factor being someone has the gun but not the sights or type of rounds you like. Or after all the time spent using it, you realize it's a part of your tool box of doom for PvP or PvE. Trade time would be after strike or Raid and only with a fire team that is comprised of your clan members. If we did a Raid or Strike together as a team then I don't mind sharing with my teammates, if I like what they have to trade. I tried to touch of a couple of points that I saw were reoccurring. Let me know what you guys think positive or negative, their were a bunch of really great points in the thread already. Looking forward to playing this game either way.

                        • When you allow trade you put in motion the economy wheel and it's clear that bungie for now have nothing planned for that. It will eventually come but adding trading without be prepared to manage ecnomy/moneysinkers and be ready to deal with money-seller is bad idea
