Character migration from Beta to Full game
Seriously...seriously... Bungie needs to make it a given that the characters we have been using in Beta are to continue with us in the full version of the game!
I will find it (and many others i am am sure) very annoying that I:
- will have to build up my character all over again in full game
- will have to redo the same levels/missions again as is in the full game. That would be soooo boring!
Yes...yes...this is beta and it is for testing. But, u guys r Bungie...Be Inovative...COME ON!!

5 RepliesI'd rather start anew! Please don't transfer characters over to the full game bungie. It will create a major disadvantage to newer players and seem weird starting the game again with level 8 gear and weapons.

1 ReplyIf you don't like it, then don't invest so much time now. You KNOW it's a beta so don't go off the wall crazy. Just play the game to enjoy it. Why are people so picky about every damn thing? This game seems to be revolutionary and you are worried about getting back to lvl 8? You knew it was a beta. Why waste resources on bringing a stupid beta character over when you can add another map to the game or 5 more levels? There are things more important than skipping over the first few levels upon release.

Most items you have right now will be useless anyway after playing for 2 more hours and gaining a few levels. [spoiler]The only thing I would think they would carry over is Grimoire score. this would be stupid.since you know lvling was sped up for the beta....if you didnt want to start over then maybe you shouldnt have played the beta to begin with.

1 ReplyEverything should be wiped clean after the beta! Not only would it be unfair to people who didn't participate in the beta because you leveled up faster (beta has boosted experience gain), but it would also unbalance the game. The beginning of the game is easy so you learn the mechanics about the game. Low level enemies and starter gear that makes it easy to kill them. Then it progressively gets harder and harder. Allowing characters to carry over would mean allowing people to start a new game with a guardian that is a way higher level then he should be. You'd literally one-shot everything. So allowing people to keep their characters is not going to happen. As for this: "will have to redo the same levels/missions again as is in the full game. That would be soooo boring!" That's your fault for playing the sh*t out of the alpha/beta

I don't really care whether or not they transfer over your characters. It didn't take that long to reach level 8 anyway so I won't mind doing it again. Bungie's also giving an exclusive item to beta players on Saturday which I think would be good enough.

The only way I could see them doing it is by limited the amount of Glimmer and such that players can take into the full game. If someone started with 100,000 Glimmer from grinding so hard it would be an unfair headstart.

7 Repliesthought i would just give me two cents on this i have just gotten my second character to level 8 okay? and im planning on doing my third saturday so i have something to do on that day. add to this that i am GARUNTEEING a purchase of destiny as well as providing them with the equivalent of a service AS WELL. (yes this is a service. beta testing is a service. we are helping them make the game better) under that alone i think we deserve to keep our level 8 characters. and i know for a fact thats not even half way to the max level because we can all see level 20 gear when we go to the outfitters. and there probably even more things whenever i look at the sheer amount of things i have yet to unlock in the character power menu. lets add to the fact im putting in 72 hours of effort on a character then add in the fact that not only am i taking up my time to PLAY your beta but ALSO make it BETTER. MORE FFECIENT AND A BETTER OVER ALL GAME. not to mention again the 60 dollars im spending on the preorder i do believe it is well within reason for people to want and then GET to keep there beta characters. now about you people who i see talking about? "BUT I WANT TO START FRESH." and talk about how it gives us a unfair advantage. well to the fresh start people there is a delete character option and make new character option . . . theres your start fresh just because you want something is no reason to hold everyone else back. and for the people who talk about head starts . . . what head starts? the PvP removes level buffs. so the only thing we are going to have better is over all equipment. equipment which can be found easily anyways. and to top that off im pretty sure anyone in there right minds can spend 5 dollars to get the beta from a pre order the way i see it if they didnt get the beta then they simply lost out on the chance and like any other chance it most of the time comes back to bite you in the butt

Yeah, I want my character to pass over, my Grimoire score and the lot, I agree that it would be boring as I have played the Alpha and the Beta and leveled them both up th 8.

I'm not bothered about having to start from lvl 1 again, infact I would prefer that. I would, on the other hand, like to be able to keep my unlocked emblems, grimours and gear. Especially the legendary (purple) hand cannon that dropped for me in an Iron banner match. Seriously, that's like someone dangling a huge carrot infront of your face and then watching them eat it.

remaking my character nothing wrong with but getting my gear again that would piss me off with the gear what i have on all 3 character when the game go live should be transplanted to bank and shipped over to real game because i have some pretty nice stuff i been collecting myself and i bet every one else also

It took me all of 90 minutes to get a class to level 8. I wouldn't be all that bothered if I had to start from scratch. It's not like Bungie OWES this to us. If you're worried about the gear you've found...it's okay starting gear at best and I guarantee you find something a HELL of a lot better once you're able to each level 9 in the full game.

I could see items and accumulations that have a lot to do with your account being the only possible carry-over, because it would be quite hard to duplicate each person's characters, given we have up to 3 and there's a few thousand players on both console types. Currency, and vault items are likely, along with Grimoire, but the only thing that could hinder our stored gear is if they patch/update the details of any specific loot we may have, then the weapon or whatever it may be may become corrupted through file and data transfer.
