Item drops can be hard to see

Hey I noticed that I was having problems seeing items when they dropped at the end of big fights, especially the waves when activating the array and the Hive & Fallen cross-fire waves in the Raid. With all the rubble, machinery, ground clutter (which I do like and appreciate), and the occasional bodies. It can make it difficult to see the items that have dropped for you. Another issue I had with finding items is out in the cosmodrome where it's sunny. I'm not sure if it's just the lighting in my room combined with the brightness level of my TV. I think that if you could either increase the light levels of items that drop. Another idea I had was maybe if you pull out your ghost it can ping the items or allow you to see them outlined through objects. I just don't want to possibly miss a great item because I couldn't see it. What do the rest of the players who prowl these forums think?

  • If you miss loot during a mission or whatever, you can pick it up from the postmaster in the tower. There's no reason to fret over the 30 second limit at the end, and there's no reason to obsess over making sure you found all the drops. Bungie's said that they did this on purpose so that loot didn't become a distraction from killing baddies. In other words, this entire thread is missing the point.

    • I tink the best way would be to add items into the radar, maybe just a dot that shows you the way (since more color of it would make the radar too confusing). then you have enough vision and reason to walk the way and see what is in store. transporting loots to the tower would cost way to much nerve everytime going there see what i possibly got, because i think it´s decent that i can just crap what i cant use for glimmer right away. and something like a autopickup after kill would be furthermore gamedestructive, everyone would carry a snipergun, go for high spots, and clear what he can see till he´s full, no one wandering the map anymore. but for long range kills, not even seeing enemys drop anything ( i love standing on a high place and shoot the aliens between the broken airplanes) is a real hassle, i have to scout the whole map afterwards to see if i even got any drops, thats annoying

      • It might be my imagination but I swear engrams are brighter since the maintenance. Anyone else notice this?

Good ideas! I especially like the idea of being able to "ping" items on the ground by scanning the area with the Ghost - that's really clever.

      • Open ghost, auto highlight item spheres, no wavpoints, absolutely not on radar. That's what I'd opt for.

      • I'll back this opinion. I for one am sure I have missed loot for this very reason, especially when sniping.

      • Special Ammo (Green), and Heavy ammo (Purple) are easy to see, the rest is not. I like the idea of your Ghost pinging loot (not ammo) or even drawing them in within a range when activated. But if I must walk over dead enemies for loot I want brighter, more obvious markers. More than anything I do not like the timed countdown after a mission. I'm running around looking for loot and all of a sudden I'm at the mission complete screen and I'm left wondering if I missed anything. I want to explore. I want to make sure I've picked up everything. Maybe I'm not missing anything. Maybe I can't. I haven't figured it out yet. I've only played a few hours so far. On the last mission I did I remember my co-op partner had a mission reward item listed in their mission summery to be turned in to an NPC at the Tower, and I did not have that item listed. But when we returned to the Tower I had the item and associated quest marker to turn in the item. So, can I miss loot and other important items or not?

      • Yes I have the same problem especially in bright or sunny areas with white items. I think the ghost idea is a very good solution you pull out the ghost and the drops get a icon on top of them like the mission beacons. Or make them easier to see in bright places.

      • I have to disagree, if you can see, aim and headshot something from a cross the field you can see a giant 3D nonagon spit out of their body... and even then THEY GLOW

      • Yup, they are really small. Should be more obvious. I don't feel like I should be scrounging for items like it's Bioshock.

        • I do agree they can seem small. After a good fight I find myself searching the area a few times over to make sure I didn't miss anything. Ammo and such not a big deal, but maybe for loot have some kind of blip on the radar?

        • I would love to use the ghost more, It'll give it a purpose and maybe have it make a comment on rare+ drops.

        • Perhaps there could be small beacons of light which are directly above the crystals when out of your vicinity. Another option (which I think we already have) is that forgotten loot can be given to the postmaster back at the tower to be picked up.

        • I agree with this. One thing Bungie could do is perhaps put a exclamation point over dropped loot once the initial fire fight is over. Would have to show up after the fire fight as to not clutter the screen too much while fighting.

        • They're visible somewhat, but, like many have mentioned, I agree that the shapes can be larger to see them more clearly. If not, a marker that can be toggled on or off to show the items on the radar.

        • I feel like the same! Everytime im thinking about to forget or to not find the loot! Everytime, after a big fight, all People ar running around the area to pick up or finde some hiding loot. The searching for it is ok, when one member of the Group find and pick up some loot, all of the other meters should be pick up also they loot automatically. Or take it like other MMOs lie World of Warcraft. after every Bossfight, there is a Loot-Sequence. You don't have to run orotund to find some. You have only do this, if you need ammo - not for loot. I think, they way World of Warcraft goes, is more comfortable and practicable then now in destiny was.

        • A radar dot, a marker via the ghost and perhaps a brighter glow might help. Also, if all missed items went to the postmaster that would solve it all easily without adding anything. Most of it already does. I think the best stuff always go to the postmaster, so you shouldn't really miss much.

            • A tool for it could be just to put a mark on your compass for a dropped item when one appears.
