Comparing the basic stats of a pulse rifle and a hand cannon I will always use a pulse rifle, hand cannon wont see much use unless they can actually stand up to other weapon types, my suggestion is to increase (range and accuracy), (fire rate and stability), or just plain damage.

Hand cannons in my opinion are fine for PvE all it needs is better precision bonuses because right now the scout rifle out class the hand cannon in every way. also if your using the hand cannon in PvP your asking for a challenge eh or to get really annoyed because unless they give them a complete overhaul of stat upgrades it will never stand up to an auto rifle or scout rifle. Especially auto rifles... Cough

Edited by Kenwerd: 7/20/2014 8:31:06 PMThe only thing that makes sense is for it to be a 1 shot kill on head shots with slightly longer range than a shotgun. I'd love to use this gun but for both PvP and PvE the negatives are just to high. Its low capacity (over all) , slow reload, and high recoil just don't have a counterweight positive that makes it viable currently.

Agreed especially when playing crucible! They don't stand a chance against autos or scouts for the matter! I saw a clip from the multiplayer video and shows the handcannon being fired like Clint Eastwood style!!! I would love for this to be available from the start. Sure make it's rate of fire increase and the fault could be the recoils and accuracy, but when fighting close quarters this would be a must!!!

Hand cannon should be a secondary weapon (special weapon).
-
What Hand Canons really need is this: Higher critical damage, and slightly faster reload speed. Hand Canons should stay primary or they'll be OP.
-
The Gunslinger tree has a perk that greatly speeds up reload following precision kills. Alongside high impact this can make hand cannons pretty powerful. The Hunter class actually seems to be really versatile when equipped with a sniper rifle and hand cannon, plus you gotta love the throwing knife.
-
I used hand cannon a lot, does good damage per shot and at descent range. As long as you can make good clean shots you can kill faster than most the rifles. It is very slow but I believe it makes up for it in mid range damage.
-
please faster reload and and fater fire rate for hand cannons the damage is fine
-
Hand cannons require more skill than other primary weapons. If you can consistently land head shots, the hand cannon is just as good if not better than other primaries. The problem i have is that you can't land criticals through shields, which makes hand cannons worse against shielded enemies and makes other primaries much better due to a higher volume of damage.
-
I think if they made hand cannons specials and shotty's primary it would solve a lot of issues. But I also think we have yet to see the really good Hand Cannons which will shine once you get more weapon upgrades on them and higher damage
-
Ok I have been thinking and the name of the weapon class is hand cannons right so I think that should mean that when you use one it should feel like you are holding a CANNON that is small and light enough to fit in your hand and here is my idea for making it feel that way. First rate of fire gets boosted around 5% next damage goes up by 25-33% range stays the same then you DEcrease stability by 10-15% then up reload speed by 33-50% the crit multiplier should go up to 3.25X or 3.5X and last for staying power in PVE you increase the reserve ammo loadout to between 90 and 120 rounds. And that is in my opinion the best way to make the hand cannon a fun unique and hopefully powerful but not to powerful weapon class I know my exact numbers are probably off by quite a bit but I think I am on the right track and I would love to hear any ideas anyone else has or if you think this idea is bad please say so and why so maybe I can come up with a better one.

I use it in pvp every time and it does fine just gotta know what your doing

Hand Canons are two shot kill guns all the time i have had no problem with them they take more skill then any other weapon in the game. I have seen a few people in the Crucible that were so good with them they got top K/D an Points in the match. For the reload time find a pair of Gloves that give Faster Reload with Hand Canons there you go problem solved. Fire rate is fine just go practice in explore mode till you get the hang of getting nothing but head shots. Also if you have yet to do this turn your sensitivity up i keep mine at 4 witch is just one up from the normal setting. If you want something better on the weapon chances are they have a Hand Canon with that type of skill into it you just have too look they aren't just going to give you those types of things you have to earn it. I'm not trying to be mean or anything just that's the way things are.

Personally the only thing I think it could use is a faster reload.
-
I see the hand cannon as the space cowboy's go-to weapon, and I think what it needs is faster reload and firing times. I've watched my Guardian reload several weapons, sometimes requiring several steps all taken in quick succession. Reloading the hand cannon is slow to watch however; a few simple steps (open the chamber, empty the spent clip, replace it, then flip up the chamber) takes more time than it should, seeing how quickly other weapons were reloaded. Secondly, I think that the hand cannon should fire as fast as I can pull the trigger. I can already see the animation as I slowly pull back the trigger, but when I shoot, I have to wait before I can pull the trigger again. If you've ever seen some of the sharpshooters using revolvers and the speed at which they can fire, you'll know what I'm talking about. The hand cannon should feel like that - it fires as fast as you can pull the trigger, and reloads at a speed that makes relative sense to the speed at which you're able to reload everything else. It is possible that I have these opinions because I've only used low level hand cannons and I don't know what they feel like closer to end game, and I know the recoil is high and that may be why I can't fire as much as I would like, but I wanted to share my thoughts.

Yeah I can't see why anyone would pick a hand cannon over a scout rifle the way the two weapons play out now. Hand cannon definitely needs some work.
-
Headshot my friend, works wonders
-
Ya raise the damage of the hand canon and put it in the special slot.
-
Personally hand cannons are my fav weapon type currently I have no problems with accuracy but range would be quite nice. As far as dmg goes I can one shot dregs two shot vandals and three shot elite vandals captains arnt even a problem
-
I agree hand cannons felt underpowered in the beta. None if its stats seemed to trump any other weapon type. Definitely wasn't the hand cannon i was expecting. More impact damage & a faster reload would solve the issues I noticed.
-
I think either three things. A. The Hand Cannon should fire faster, but the damage should be regulated or lowered (or it will destroy everyone in PVP) Reload remains as is. B. The Hand Cannon should fire slowly but do more damage when it does fire. Reload time increased (Or it will be a PVP hand sniper rifle) C. The Hand Cannon should work as is, but with much faster reload time.
-
I usually say hey this is why it is good blah blah don't hate, but honestly it is a bit underpowered. Either increasing rate of fire or increasing power per shot is gonna be needed. However, what we aren't thinking about is what if the hand cannon is the strongest single power primary in the game one you get to level 20.
-
Definitely agree. I don't think they should be wayyyyy more powerful, but I think they should probably pull a good 10-15 attack above equivalent scout rifles, to make up for the low RoF and mag size. Otherwise.. Why not just use a scout rifle? Are we supposed to use them just because they look cool? I don't want to use a gun just because it looks cool. I want to use a gun because it looks cool AND kills people.
-
I agree they could do with more damage. It takes my scout rifle the same about of shots to take someone out. I think it should be at minimum a 3 shot KO.
-
I feel like it was better in the alpha, or at least I was better with one in the alpha. But now they do feel underpowered a little. Then again, I couldn't find an uncommon hand cannon so maybe then but...

Edited by DawnFox-: 7/20/2014 6:30:05 AMHand cannon is my go to gun. Hunters have perks to decrease reload and there is armor that can give the same effect. I don't think it should be messed with too much, imo the hand cannon is near perfect. I don't connect with the other weapons that much.
