Why do people eat meat?

I'm kinda curious. I understand it may taste good, but do you understand it is an animal? It was just trying to live its life, and then it was killed in order to be eaten. It's a huge disrespect to life IMO. Not to mention, you are literally eating its body. Whether it is their loins, their intestines, or various mucles/organs, I mean, yuck!

Every day, vegetarians kill and eat millions of plants. Please, stop this madness by eating more meat!

  • I don't eat plants or animals because its wrong to eat things that are living or have come from a living thing. Btw I'm extremely malnourished.

  • I'm not the one killing it. If I had to kill my own animals to eat I would be a vegetarian.

  • It's nature, shit has been killing and eating each other since the dawn of time. Plus vegetarians and vegans are pretty new. If a society had access to an animal, they'd eat it. It's only since people had an abundance of food that they were able to pick and choose their diet. And a lot of (not all) vegetarians refuse to eat meat not because their sad for the animal, but because they want to feel superior and different. I see that lifestyle as more selfish than it is noble, not to mention whatever goal they're trying to reach will never be achieved. In order to prevent animals from eating each other, you would need to kill all carnivores making the whole idea of saving the animals fall flat. It really only takes a little bit of thought to see that.

        • They taste good. And the meat I pick up at the grocery store is not from an animal just living life. It was born to be eaten.

        • Its dead. So your ingesting death. The blood. Lifeless. Eat vegetabes. The water is alive. Good for your body. Also to much meat can cause constipation and other health issues. Limit the consumption.

        • Eating and cooking meat is what allowed us to evolve our large brains. Vegetarianism and veganism would probably reverse that given enough time. Even if you don't believe in evolution, name one strictly herbivorous animal that's considered intelligent, besides the elephant, which is like a freak of nature.

You want to know why we take care of cows, instead of permitting them to them run free and let natural selection take its course? Meat, milk, cheese, and leather. It'd be more beneficial to everybody to keep cows alive for that purpose. Same with chickens. Meat and eggs. And they'd all be wiped out in less than a century if we let them all into the wild. Pigs... well, boars can survive just fine, but pigs seem to be smaller and easier to manage than cows. Possibly cheaper, but I'm no rancher. Besides, BACON. Fish? Salmon ain't going extinct anytime soon. And then, of course, you need to take into consideration that vegan and vegetarian diets are bland, unfilling, and when you put some proper thought into it, completely and totally against what evolution has shaped us into.

              • The meat is a major source of protein. In the body the protein is broken down to amino acids. The amino acids are transported to our cells where they are build into different proteins. Almost all the meat you see in stores are from animals specifically bred and fed to become food. After the beasts are killed, the carcass is not wasted (skin for leather and hooves for glue. Etc). When the meat is cooked, the proteins are denatured, meaning they lose their form and come apart. A good example is how you can cook off fat. All that being said, you can't live off only meat because your body will starve glucose. The liver can restructure amino acids into glucose, but not quickly. This is why wheats and fruits are needed. Veggies provide starches and fibers that provide small amounts of glucose and clean out the digestive tract.
