[TL;DR Below]
After watching the new trailer, "The Law of the Jungle", I thought a lot about the scene where the hunter pulled out his revolver-type weapon and completely decimated six Cabal. At first I thought it was just a badass scene for the trailer, but then I realized there could be some gameplay mechanics behind it.
The first thing I thought of was the "Mark and Execute" feature from Splinter Cell: Conviction. I thought maybe that could either be a skill we could learn as a Guardian, a class-specific skill we could learn as a Hunter, or it was a trait of the rare powerful weapon that was probably looted in a previous adventure.
Whatever the case, I then realized that there might be a "Special" attack that your character has or earns. Not really an improvement to your overall character (Far Cry 3/Skyrim Skill Trees), but more of a super powerful attack.

Think most fighting games, LoL (Ultimate) or Twisted Metal 4 (random, but that's what I thought of). Imagine as you rank up, you earn a Special attack (or more easily, you start out with one). Once you learn this attack, a Special meter would appear on your hud; maybe hugging the map, or outlining your health/shield bar or something of the sort.
There would be "Masters" located throughout the city. An NPC who has mastered the attack you want to learn. Once you find them in the city, or rescue them on a mission, they would teach you this attack. Either that, or you would simply purchase the attacks from a menu, but the "Masters" idea feels more immersive.
These attacks could be general, and learned by any Guardian. They could also be specific to your class. For example, the Warlock's super energy blast that he charges at the end of the trailer to combat that giant Cabal could obviously only be learned by a Warlock. Whereas a "Mark and Execute" attack might be learned by any class that was wielding a precision weapon. Anyway, I then would imagine you would fill your Special Meter by killing enemies. Maybe depending on how you kill them, your Special would fill up faster. Lastly, I think you would be able to stack up to 3 or so special attacks.
TL;DR: Could there be a Special attack tied to your character like in fighting games where you build up your Special Meter to use the attack?
What do you guys think about this? What Special attacks, general or class-specific, can you imagine in Destiny? How do you think something like this would work inside the game?

It seemed to me that the Hunter was using special ammo in the revolver. When he popped out the cylinder the speed loader that dropped was glowing with red sparks. Then when he reloaded, the whole gun had the same glow to it.

Sure, but I don't want these super combo's enabled on multiplayer, that could become an overpowered kill streak if it was like aim and kill for a specific class, you could just tag 3,4,5 players, use the super combo and mow them all down in one fellow swoop. This would be incredibly overpowered. This however doesn't mean it wouldn't be cool on PvE.

Shinku Hadōken yes! A supercombo gauge would be cool. Fill it up by chaining kills.

God I hope not. And in all likely hood, the warlock was using a different spell I can't imagine them being limited to one spell and a "special".

If there where many types of specials unlock from different trait trees etc

In response to the masters idea they could also be NPC's which you pay to teach you the ability or they teach you in return for a favor (nothing sexual), that way you can still learn without dropping tons of money on this one NPC and the better the ability the higher the cost or harder the mission.
