Is it wrong to use a double space? Some claim so. I just read a full article on what has more etiquette and how it "should" be done. Fortunately for typing online, whether you use single or double spacing, it will automatically get rid of "extra space" in your posts and articles, so everyone reads it the same way.
Is there a "correct" way? Some people just grow up in school using double spaces while typing on computers to it's just out of habit now.
What say you bungie.net?

Two spaces after a sentence is a holdover from the days of monospaced fonts used on typewriters. With the introduction of proportional fonts used in word processors, web pages, and everywhere else now, two spaces after a sentence is now arcane. No typing or English teacher should ever be requiring two spaces after a period. If they do, feel free to refer them to the Chicago Manual of Style, where it is NOT recommended except for monospaced fonts (which nobody uses anymore). See Sec. 2.9: "Like most publishers, Chicago advises leaving a single character space, not two spaces, between sentences and after colons used within a sentence, and this recommendation applies both to manuscripts and published works."
