People are intentionally losing in Gambit.....

For what I can only assume is to speed up completion progress for Breakneck. One less round means a quicker match completion. Welcome to Destiny. Where losing is actually the most efficient means in which to acquire something powerful meant to be earned. NO player should EVER be encouraged to do something that is not winning in competitive modes. EVER. These PvP quests steps are a massive hinderance to the enjoyment of this game. Last night I saw a post in Fireteams titled “speed losses in gambit”........ This. Is. Why. We. Can’t. Have. Nice. Things. Bungie PLEASE stop doing this. It’s a broken way of doing things. Edit: Thanks to all the honest people that admit that they WANT to lose the second round if the first round was a loss. I understand this feeling. I feel the same way. This is exactly why this is an issue and why PvP quest steps are a bad idea, as well as why Gambit in general could be different in a way that eliminates this sort of thing.

  • Gambits a mess anyways. Can’t say I personally care. If it didn’t have powerful rewards I’d never play it

  • See players do this up until the meatball shows up and when it does, because I have the malfeasance, I sit in spawn and do the exact thing they did the round prior....not a damn thing.

    • If you think this is bad in rdr2 I have heard of players just waiting for other players to go and turn in items for gold needed to purchase weapons, supplies, etc.. And just icing them before they can trade in their farming efforts - FOR ABSOLUTELY NO BENEFIT - other than ruining another players 2hrs or so of farming. Can you believe how internet anonymity has allowed some of us to sink so low. It is such a shame.

      • If I'm on a shit team and we get wrecked round 1 then I give up and don't try hard in round 2. I don't have time to deal with a third round when it doesn't matter if you win or lose.

I mean, gambit stats don't really matter and the gamemode is treated as a joke/fun mode. It's not a competitive mode so I don't treat it as such I rarely get demotivated but with gambit full of sweaties who punch players for mistakes and send hatemail, I become the laziest player you will meet. Usually focusing down bounties and doing nothing to benefit the team. Hell, I'll camp the portal if I have to. With friends I will give it my all but with randoms I could care less And if they really get pissy Feed invaders your deaths so that it heals the primeval :) There is no incentive. It's not a true comp mode. You don't lose glory for losing and even if you did...so what? You get the same rewards whether you win or lose, gambit stats are the last thing you should care about, and you get your daily powerful gear. I don't actually think that gambit should be a comp mode. Though when the drifter expansion comes out, I do think they should expand on it.

        • Maybe because everything that is gambit involved requires you finishing matches. 23% of the stuff for gambit needs you to win.

Took 5 games to complete all the other steps..... requiring 40 games is the issue... it should be 25 after 20 games I got so bored and annoyed due to how bad gambit is that I gave up carring if I won or loose I just wanted each game to be over fast... I was so happy each time I got match made into a game that was on the last round with the boss already spawned.

        • I played a Gambit game where my team just sat down at initial spawn. I just sat down with them and grabbed some Cheerios. I did nothing and received a Powerful engram and a game completion for eating Cheerios.

        • Yeah, I came across a YouTube guy who lost the first round and said if he lost he wouldn't try in the next round. He stood by the bank and casually shot at what he could see from a distance and really only cleared blockers. What a loser. If you aren't going to try, get out and don't come back.

        • Not gonna lie, the first weekend the gun was available I was grinding for two days. It got so boring and frustrating that the last 10 or 15 games I just ran around so I wouldn’t get kicked. The requirements are too high. A loss should be worth 1 and a win worth 3. So you really have incentive to kick ass. I was just done at the end.

These quests are made by people who don't play or play in a test environment only. They aren't getting the raw bullshit that is this player base. Saw a -blam!-ing guy running two sidearms the other day and it reminded me of why I hate -blam!-ing Gambit.

ya more thought should be put into these bounties. however i believe gambit matches are too long not that i would try to manipulate them by losing on purpose but i play less gambit because it takes a long time. I think I did a poll and most want gambit matches shortened . some are even ok with one round per game. the fact that there can be a third round is part of the problem. maybee they can find a winner even if its a two round game. they could find a way to determine the winner in 2 rounds no matter what. maybee after round 2 its a tie breaker where it starts with both prime evils and who ever melts theirs first wins. skip the collecting motes part .

This statement right here shows exactly the state of Destiny 2 and it's player base as a whole. "I’ll play hard first round, if we win cool I’ll keep playing, if we loose I’m going to lose as many motes as possible" *face palm* really!? *laughs* and certain few asked for this all of this, and here we are ^^^^ with that up there^^^ *walks off yelling in the distance* do us all a favor time...don't PLAY!

It's not as easy as you might think - to design a quest/bounty that players CAN'T work around to the detriment of others. The real target of your ill will should be those players who can't be arsed to run a proper quest. But... The answer I've come up with had to be 2-fold: Require a length of time in Gambit - a number of hours (let's say 10 total). Problem with this is AFK and rubber-banders... So you'd need super good detection for those players and boot them quickly so they can't just run in circles and queue into game after game... Can't be a number of rounds, because then you incentivize losing the middle round. Can't be wins, because nobody can control that (and of course, cheating). I suppose it could have been a number of motes to the bank, but that might also get tedious if your team is hogging them all. It's just not 100% fool-proof to design a non-exploitable quest/bounty. Be mad at the pricks who don't play right. Give Bungie some slack...

          • Amen to your post! Apparently it’s the gaming world and real world mentality now a days! People think they should do nothing and get a whole lot of something for zero effort. It should be 20 wins, instead of 40 completions.
