I just watched this great vid by Houndish that really resonated with me. Lately I've been post a lot of polls on the feedback forums trying to get the community's majority opinions on different topics, and I feel this is another great one to look at. My intent is only to give the devs at Bungie a clearer picture of what their community wants out of the Destiny franchise. I'm also going to link my other polls at the bottom. So, let's not fight. Let's discuss. A) Bungie had it right in D1. The perfect balance of hardcore and casual content and systems. B) Bungie should go more hardcore with the content and systems than D1. C) Bungie should keep the casual feel of current D2. D) Bungie should go more casual with the content and systems than D2. • What direction jettisons PVP for the unrecognizable, umitigated failure it is and lets us focus on what still has some small chance of being great (PVE)?

      • Bungie should definitely lean into it's RPG elements. Trust the intelligence of the community .

I wish there was a “Destiny 1 was amazing, but deeper RPG elements would be welcome” option. I don’t want Destiny to become The Division.

Why is "down the toilet" not an option? I mean it's only where the franchise is going

        • Here’s is the core problem with everything in destiny franchise Our power is shit Our abilities are shit Our armour is shit Our weapons are shit & what do we get from bungie? ........... more shit that doesn’t work and worst of all when you watch a trailer and it soon becomes apparent that what is been displayed is nothing like what’s in game regardless if its pve or pvp. So Bungie you can go to hell with Destiny 3 because if you don’t get your act together you won’t even have a company let alone a game to sell. 🦉

        • I wish the power system was more like Vermintide 2 same goes for gear and such, power level is nothing more then aces level and a penalty if you try to do something to early. The sad thing is people actually think power level makes them stronger even tough they matched or have surpassed mob power level, people want progress so badly they lie to themselves I personally don't like to be fooled. Having the right weapons is the dullest progress I have ever seen in a game.

        • More RPG, bigger differences between classes. Some irreversable options, in depth stats. Armour that makes you hard to kill, agility that makes you fast. Titan n warlock skating. Nuance, depth and scope... not just a bloody plain jane shooter.

The problems that plague Destiny 2 are rooted in the fundamental problems that have plagued this game since launch: too many contradictory notions of what this game should be; lack of a consistent vision on Bungie’s part; and the unified sandbox failing to meet anyone’s needs. By the end of Y3, Destiny 1 was a pretty good looter-shooter/MMO hybrid. But was a broken mess in pvp. But instead of realizing that the game’s foundation was pve and not pvp, Bungie forced changes onto the game trying to recreate Halo’s MP in the Crucible. The result was Bungie broke the pve end game. So in essence you have a looter shooter with no loot that has any impact on game play. Worse still in trying to please Competitive Halo players they broke everything that made Destiny unique in terms of game play (#power-fantasy). As one poster summed it up, “In Destiny 1 I was a Jedi. But in Destiny 2, I’m basically a stormtrooper.” That is Bungie’s screwup in a nutshell. They failed to realize that more people were enjoying being that Jedi, than were bitching about dying to space magic in pvp. And in retooling the game to appeal to a very vocal minority of former Halo player, they alienated the game’s core audience. Solution? Simply? Combine D2s everything else, with a return to D1s play mechanics and weapon systems. Then either go back to random rolls on gear or greatly expand and deepen the mods system (Warframe). Which means accepting that Destiny is a PVE franchise with pvp. Not the other way around. But they can’t go forward with the changes they made to the loot system and the game’s game play. They will lose the the D1 player base permanently, and the current casual fanbase isn’t invested enough in the game to truly replace it.

I gotta be honest, and I may be a lone wolf here but I Love how D2 was at launch. The issue for me is that it just stopped. After 2 weeks, the content was over, followed by three months of nothing. Every week there was an update to nothing. TWAB became a pool of information mocking the player. Teasing us and make us want more. Well, we do want more! And that’s been the issue. In D1 we had the flexibility to choose the game modes we wanted to play, we had the freedom to choose the missions, bounties strikes, and raids we wanted to do. We had weapon missions, we had planets that played differently on each one. We had content on content with their own story arches and missions. In D2 this all changed. Forced to play in a playlist, all planets offer the same three enemies, the same things to do with the same rewards. They all have the same patrol missions, they all offer the same played out public events. We need more content and it needs to be varied. We need to know that EDZ is for cabal and farming a specific kind of loot, or that Mercury is a battle against the VEX. There’s more to Destiny than gameplay. The time it takes for Bungie to create an organized story has baffled me. There should have been, correction, there should be a plan to release new content every single week. I know that’s ambitious AF, but that’s where the expectations should be. A minimum turn around of three weeks would even suffice. The point is we need content, we need a reason to play the game. A reason to participate in public events. We need a reason to collect all of these weapons. Outside of special events, The Crucible has offered the same rewards since Day 1. No new updates, no new loot. What’s the point of playing this game? Is it to learn the story? Well then give us story missions! Is it to collects weapons? Well then give us reasons to use said weapons? Is it to be the highest power level, or have the best loadout? Well then give us a better reward system in the crucible. The gameplay is great just the way it is. The real question is, What’s the game about? Edits: Grammer, Spelling & Created Paragraphs.

              • I think there needs to be an IN GAME system to help put together raid and trials teams. As well as some sort of activity that bridges the gap between easy activities, (like strike playlists and public events) and more difficult activities like the raids. Destiny 2 has a pretty great early game, but a weak endgame, and it doesn't really even have a midgame.

              • With all that is going on far as I’m concerned bungie has lost the plot with this game focus on raids & pvp content and forgetting what destiny is really about. One of the many things that I see as a problem is the lack of variety specially when it comes to rewards and this is for all areas not just raids & pvp. That the bass foundations of the game where everyone starts in pve patrol has been left to become nothing more than a ghost town that someone just passes through to get to the parts that they feel is more important. Not to say that the story for D2 is anything to scream about - what bungie needs to do is figure out what works from the first game and implemented into destiny 2 then things might actually start working for them.

                • I would love them to push the looter/RPG elements more. Wider skill trees for greater build experimentation and customization. Gear sets, Wider stat ranges and RNG weapon rolls, etc. The problem with this is that the variety and complexity added by these things makes PvP a nightmare to balance and you end up with The Division where there are 2-3 top tier builds and must-have weapons and the PvP experience is determined almost entirely by your build instead of skill. It all boils down to one thing. They need to separate PvP and PvE gear and balancing entirely so one doesn't conflict with the other. There's a relatively simple way to do this by just creating each weapon and armor piece with a single pre-balanced set of PvP perks, and a couple pre-blanced PvP builds for each subclass. Entry into a competitive PvP playlist requires all your gear to be using one of these static pre-sets. For PvE or casual PvP it should be anything goes with access to whatever RNG perks and skill builds you want to use. Make it happen!!!

                • Definitely more rpg. Its where the gear, weapons, and variety is at. If bungie does that then everything else will fall into place and improve.

Hardcore... Only in the sense of RPG (No time trials for nightfall and that kind of thing)... We need - way more options, proper skill trees, in depth decision making, set bonuses, proper in-depth side quests and storylines, More active NPC's, decent quest specific loot, WAY MORE LOOT, more customisation, reasons to grind with different factions, more replay-ability, more lore... Just some of the things that would help the franchise ten fold!... I know it's starting to sound like a broken record but Bungie should honestly cut their losses, revert back to Year 3 D1 and continue from where they left off, I think the majority of the fans would be happy if this was the case...

Make it exactly like Year 3 D1. Anyone trying to make this game hardcore, is a -blam!-ing cancer on the community. Bungie just made the nightfall even worse because of you elitist neckbeard tryhards.

They have zero intention on changing the game, and not telling you that keeps you ( they hope) playing, lying to yourselves that it is going to get better.

                          • Going more hardcore RNG would kill the gameplay that makes Destiny so great. The meat of the game is the running and gunning and not spending hours organizing your inventory and selecting the best skill tree. Bungie hit the right balance at the end of D1.

                          • considering this community has no idea what it wants, and your poll does not provide options that are any good, this is not of much help. the community begs for x, they get x and complain about it was better before x. there is no pleasing everyone. best bet for Bungie is make the game they want it to be and see where the chips fall. because at the end of the day it's either use the product provided or don't.
