its so bullshit how you could get teleported and die instantly because he slammed right when you teleported
and this is so far whats keeping my hunter from completing the challenge
-
It seems to me that they've also made the shade more aggressive with his sword swings. I've beaten Oryx on hard mode a number of times, including defeating the challenge mode twice. Thanks to the challenge mode rewards, I'm now 319. But last night three different teams I was on failed to defeat the normal Oryx HM. One problem is that people often died to being slammed by Oryx. I died twice like that. And neither time was I close to Oryx and I was mid-air at the time. It's as if he'll turn mid swing and side swipe you in the air. (I'm not actually sure what happened, as I was mid air, and not particularly close to the Echo, and then suddenly I was dead, and the death screen said I had been killed by the Echo.) To make matters worse, if everyone runs too far away from him, he'll linger inside trying to find someone to swing at, and you'll lose precious DPS time as he wanders around aimlessly. So I've googled around, and I've found the strategy of jumping directly at him and over his head. That sounds dangerous, but I've watched videos of it and it seems to work. It seems to force him to slam too, so you can get back to DPS'ing. Also, it would protect people being teleported in, since when you do this aggressively, he seems not to slam in the middle of the shade world. Having a Warlock with res sacrifice himself also seems to be a common recommendation. (Perhaps this is why Bungie made the shade world this way: To make Warlocks valuable to the fight. Hunters are are already valuable for generating orbs and Titans are infinitely valuable for fueling ToM's with blessing of light.)

self bump

Edited by Benzene21: 12/21/2015 9:44:42 PMMany things wrong with the shade. I have died outside and no, I did not touch the bubble. I was close but never touched it. I was a warlock with super charged and I couldn't even self res. I have been hit by the shade while being outside! If you are outside and look at the ground when he is about to slam, you can see his sword coming out of the ground. Really, bungie? You couldn't design this better? Sometimes you kill the shade at the last second and you still die! If you kill it on time, you should not die. Period. And the classic one. Yes. Getting killed as you are being teleported.
-
I like it when you kill the shade but the blight bubble doesn't despawn so everyone gets teleported into the blight and dies.
-
Use communication with your team?? If your team is in they should tell you to jump as soon as you get in if shade is coming in. Even if they don't, you should jump just in case
-
It's a part of the game mechanic. You can hear when he is charging so you know when to be at full health just incase. Also team communication is important and possible titan bubble
-
Communicate with your team. Tell them to get ready to jump, run, pop a bubble.
-
Happened to us a few times last night
-
Use a self-rez warlock to make the shade slam.
-
You realize he screams when he is going to slam so you can be ready then if you do get teleported nust immediately jump it happens to me all the time
-
Git gud
-
Yeah your team needs mics so they can tell u when hes charging, i dont get how your team keeps wipping in the shade, yes u can get killed on teleport but it is very uncommon
-
I pop a blessings bubble right in the middle during shade. It can't kill you with an overshield if you move out of the way of the sword.
-
Not much you can do there, but there's something that your teammates can do. If the shade starts charging, run at him and jump over him. He'll slam right away, far away from the center. This keeps your teammates safe if they teleport in at a bad time.

Get good

Edited by pBenny_: 12/20/2015 9:08:50 PMSeriously all you need to do is jump. Your fireteam surely is telling you it is about to slam. Think ive died once from shade when i was around 290light on my hunter. But if you still cant live titan with blessings and hunter teather.
-
When you hear him coming in for a swing and you're still outside, sprint. Don't stop until his swing is over.
-
Always jump when you're teleported. Even a scrub should know that by now, unless you are an idiot.
-
When you jump while outside, you can prevent this. Just takes some focus.
-
That's why the ppl in there should call out saying he's going to slam. So start jumping around
-
Do you have max armor? I can tank one hit, leaving me with 30% health.
-
Pop a bubble in there right in the middle with blessings or armor and you'll be fine, don't claim they need to fix something when you just can't adapt to the fight
-
Edited by shortyducks: 12/20/2015 8:47:16 PMSimple fixes. Have a self res lock rush him and make him slam sacrifice style. Or, have a teammate rush him and jump over to slam immediately, so it's not in the middle. This isn't something that needs to be fixed, this is just team incompetence. It shouldn't take more than a couple slams to kill him anyway.

Edited by Rabid: 12/20/2015 8:47:47 PMJump before u get in spam it and if your lights high enough u should be able to take a hit anyway

Edited by THEMOSTVICIOUS87: 12/20/2015 8:47:31 PMIs this every single time you teleport?
