Not much you can do there, but there's something that your teammates can do. If the shade starts charging, run at him and jump over him. He'll slam right away, far away from the center. This keeps your teammates safe if they teleport in at a bad time.

that was another problem i ran into when someone jumped over his head. he didn't slam untill that guy landed in front or behind him

Yeah it doesn't work if he's targeting someone else. Everyone in there should jump for it to be reliable.
