You know, what? I used to be one of those people that said "I wish there was matchmaking for raids". But then I thought about it and decided, no, that's got to be the worst idea in the history of anything.
Let's say you're either on your own, or maybe you have a friend or two, to raid with. You get matchmade with the rest needed to make a 6 person team. Now, imagine if only one or two of these people have mics and imagine if the others don't want to listen to what anything anyone else has to say and wants to show off how good they are. You can't communicate with some of them, the others won't listen and the other guy is the worst player on earth.
Sound like fun? NO. I would much rather raid with 2, 3, 4, 5 people i know or even people i've found on the forums. I dont want to be matched with idiot 10 year old kids that have no respect for anyone else and won't work as a team.
I'm not saying everyone out there is like that. In fact, I've made some of my best friends online with random people, but they were found on the forums.
FFS Bungie, DONT ADD MATCHMAKING TO THE RAID. I swear, if you do, I won't even bother playing the game any more. I bet you wouldn't care about little old me saying I wont play the damn game if you do it, but I can almost guarantee you that a LOT of people feel the same way. Adding matchmaking is your one way ticket to failsville.
If you agree, please, PLEASE, up vote and make this known.

I have thought about this for sometime now. I do not really care for the idea. I picked up my phone, LFG'd on the app enough to build a big friends list, and assembled a good raid team over time. Now even if I go into a raid or really anything short handed, unless I close the party, it will fill out in no time with my friends jumping in. That being said, maybe throw these guys a bone. Give the normal raids the "option" to matchmake. It has to be an option though for the guys who prefer to do it short handed. I also don't know how, but it would have to require a mic. It would have to matchmake at checkpoints for people bailing out. And there would have to be a voting system to kick people. No matchmaking on hard raids though, ever. Build a team through meeting people on normal or if it matchmade you a good team on normal, than friend each other and go straight into hard.

Edited by G1NGER_DAVE: 2/20/2015 4:59:46 PMAgain let it be optional it can't be that hard that way it's up to the people that are actually playing it, if they want the raid to be harder having a load of randoms let them it's their choice, they might then easily make a few more freinds so they eventually don't need the option anymore without having to go posting on forums to find teammates which is essentially the same thing but a pain in the arse.
-
I want it, but only optionally. If they can't give me the option, I'd rather not.

Edited by Hektik: 2/20/2015 8:05:48 PMDon't want match making? easy enough, just keep using destinylfg. Problem solved.
-
You'd get put into a raid with idiots... No thank you
-
Hell no don't want lvl 30 Johnny blue gear with unleveled machine gun joining my crota raid
-
People want matchmaking and people don't. Why not add two launch buttons? One can startup whatever option is selected with matchmaking and one without. Add this to everything and everyone could be happy. Startup the daily with two people and decide if you want to add a third or not with the launch selection. Have four to try the raid cool, now you have the option to stay as four or add two more. It's a simple fix that gives everyone an option.

Edited by Gabe: 2/20/2015 9:13:45 PMI don't see any legitimate argument that is against any form of matchmaking for the best part of Destiny.
-
Me being a mainly solo player match making would help me but I'd rather see bungie come up with a different solution. like for example to quote king gothalion having a message bored of some kind could work nicely and wouldn't require the need of outside websites
-
Unless the next raid is fun and glitch/exploit free, I really couldn't care less.

Edited by BIGBoOTYLOTTERY: 2/20/2015 7:53:25 PMOnly for normal difficulty raids. Lvl28 required for vog matchmaking normal mode, lvl30 required for ce matchmaking normal mode Then when the group is made, they don't automatically jump into the vog, they just join up in orbit as a fireteam.
-
I didn't really have a problem with it until they did the Weekly Heroic...they way they handled it has me worried about how they would implement raid matchmaking.
-
Match making would never work for the raid. #1 No more save Checkpoint. If it's matchmaking you will no longer be able to stop once you start and continue at another time. Why would I want to rerun the raid from beginning every time when I don't need nor have the time to? #2. Facing crota/atheon - matchmaking adds in random - they get 0 kills and end up getting exotic / gear and everyone else gets sharded on #3 useless until a wipe if on hard and gets added #4 takes actual communication , you will not get that with 6 randoms especially if don't all have mic #5 don't want to be forced to play with with randoms added in if have group of 4-5 that could easily handle everything Could go on but no point.
-
Stop with these dumb post its bad enough there having weekly MM good bye to soloing it. Its you cry babies ruining the game for everyone
-
The tower is "social" - so there should be a mechanism in there for people looking to form a raid or nightfall group go and form one.

Matchmaking in NF and Raids (game modes you generally need a team of players actually doing their job) will be the downfall of this game if it ends up getting released. Imagine you que for a raid with you and 2 other buddies, and get grouped with players expecting a carry thru with blue weapons. Now it sounds like a great idea, and of course there are players who solo the whole damn game, but the general population cant. And that is what matchmaking is catering to. It does nothing but put a burden on the team. If matchmaking gets implemented for NF and raids next, i feel bad for the new players trying to get anything done. No more soloing the raid - YOU CANT ANYMORE - youll have to carry 5 scrubs with you most likely wiping the boss fight To the people thinking it will go smooth as butter when pressing that join button,i hope you are right.

Edited by EVIL VENOM: 2/20/2015 5:44:17 AMI don't see why not. DeeJ says "what if someone has to leave for dinner?" And my question is "what's the difference if someone from LFG has to leave for Dinner?" A random is a random no matter what website you find them at. Here is my solution to raid matchmaking.. By default raid is private. Option to make it match making but have a party leader to boot player. If someone quits, have that open spot for match making till someone joins just like strikes.
-
Would be a huge mistake if they did.
-
In my opinion, they should give the option to matchmake for Raids. It would be more hassle then help if it automatically did it for you like on the normal level strikes, but Bungie could easily add an extra menu option when selecting the raid and level that will matchmake them with other people. This would be a really useful feature that makes it easier for players to find others for raids.
-
Having a Raid/NightFall MM option is a logical idea. If players want to wait and gather up 6 clan members Fine If players would rather go in short handed Fine If players don't have enough people for Raid/Nightfall and would like to team up with others in same boat This addition would give them a faster more efficient option than sending out requests in Tower. Another Solution would be LFG message board or Chat Channel in Tower. Traveler knows there's enough empty space in there
-
It's alright to have matchmaking for raids I personally wouldn't use it n I still would create my own grps off forums it's the best way
-
So the vast majority of players don't have the friends to do a Heroic Strike, why will they have friends to do a Nightfall or Raid? Ridiculous.
-
Lol all the things you mentioned happen a lot anyway I think the raids should've been designed with matchmaking in mind
-
Should be an option.
-
Only if its optional.
-
i never get to raid because i do not have real life friends who play destiny. they all quit or sold destiny. id say 90% of us could MM to raid more often. We need MM for raids. if you do not like MM do not use it. simple.
