So I found the story of Destiny!

Mad about Destiny not having a fleshed out story? Don't worry, I figured it out for ya. Let me start this from the beginning... What YOU already know from the game: Whilst humans where exploring, they found The Traveler, a giant sphere capable of terraforming worlds, and other miraculous things. Humanity had a "golden age" under the protection of The Traveler, until a mysterious force known as "The Darkness" started invading. The darkness destroyed much of humanity and the traveler was enfeebled, only allowing it to protect one city on Earth, the Last City. The traveler created ghosts to bring back certain dead warriors to life, to be blessed with it's powers and fight the darkness. You gear up, you fight baddies, and you eventually defeat the vex's heart of the Black Garden. But here's what you didn't know. Think about the enemies you fought along the way. What do they have in common? They are all humanoid. The few that do not stand on two legs, upright, are machines. Think about it. Devil walkers. Shanks. Harpies. They're all machines. So that means they weren't naturally evolved. But what does that mean? What am I getting at? The enemies you're fighting? They're you. They are humanity. Now that might sound crazy, but let me explain. The "Traveler" is quite aptly named. It was created by who knows who, but it was designed to keep humanity on track until it evolved the way it was supposed to. What the speaker wouldn't tell you is that it "Travels" through time to achieve this goal. The problem? It has to bring back all the failed humanities along with it. Vex. They are humans that wanted to achieve immortality. Why do you think goblins, and hobgoblins have a skull VISIBLE in their abdomen? Humans tried to make undying bodies and failed. So the Traveler abandoned them. Fallen. These humans grew too greedy trying to plunder the riches of the newly discovered Galaxy, and evolved from the masters of the universe that humanity was meant to be to lowly space pirates only concerned with loot. So the Traveler abandoned them. Hive. They are the result of a worlds wide sickness that humanity accidentally unleashed, one that infected the brain, took over the body, and gave the humans a "Hive" mind. Recognizing that they were unable to be saved, the traveler abandoned them. Same with the Exos and the Awoken. They wandered from the intended path of humanity, so the Traveler took away their chance to be the dominant race. HOWEVER, the difference here is although both the Exos and the Awoken strayed from the intended path, they KEPT what makes them human, unlike the Hive, the Fallen, and the Vex, which lost everything it means to be human. This is why they where blessed with the power of light. So now, as it stands, the Traveler deems the current humanity to be the worthy rulers of the universe, and after so many tries is too run down to start over anyways. So the Traveler is offering all the light it has left to the guardians, so they can bring the true Humanity to the top of the universe, above all the failed humanities before it. Will humanity succeed in this final chance? Or will the universe never have a ruler? It is up to you, guardians. EDIT: if you ever wondered why the Traveler gave humans longer life spans, it is because they are the chosen race.

  • The lack of story in Destiny is due because they didn't wanna pay the writer that left for telltale after the game launched, thats why there is stuff we can glitch into in the game that probably will never see the light of day in the end.

  • Its certainly different. Don't think that's what they're going for, but its a fun theory and you could make it work. Once you put in time travel in lore, anything is possible, lol.

    • I will give my idea... A floaty thing that has the power of jesus said wake up. I did. He said here is a gun, go shoot them. I said "K". I shot. I got beautiful twinkles. Kill more, and you get more twinkles. So I shoot. The End.

      • You are so off. In the original design the traveler was evil and the black garden was INSIDE the traveler. If you look at the first concept images for the garden, it was spherical and was obviously the inside of a sphere= traveler. You are a undead army for the traveler to re awake him

        • Interesting hypothesis. There currently isn't enough evidence to back it up, but it is fun to speculate.

        • Interesting, however, it's not backed up. Nowhere in the grimoire is there evidence for this stuff, but I get what you're saying.

For one The Vex CANT be human because of what Dinklebot says along the lines of "vex are organic, but nothing ive ever seen on record". And don't say that we evolve/change ourselves SO much that there is NO trace of our former self. The other races COULD be, but then the same problem arises. Why is there no trace of human in them? Surely DNA of every species encountered has been examined by a simple Ghost scan or leftover traces that a scientist gets their hands on. You also say that the Traveler HAS to bring the failed versions of humanity with it to the past. Why? There is nothing that would suggest this, and it just doesn't make logical sense. If I was trying to fix my failed creation, I would NOT bring all the failed versions with me back. Especially when time traveling.

              • I'll give you credit for creativity, but you're way off. Lore in the grimoire cards negates most of your hypotheses already.

                        • This does not really seem plausible. Why can't they just be aliens? The covenant were just different alien races that formed an alliance.

                          • This seems to hold a lot of generalities and humans dont have four arms how did the Fallen end up with 4 arms? and i dont remember you saying anything about the cabal in there. I dont know. Its a fun theory ill give you that but ive read every single grimoire card i have (and i have 19 hundred) and I dont see a ton of things that support this theory just some. Like in the grimoire cards we get no hint that the Traveler is capable of time travel. Again Im not saying you are wrong because they dont have this in there just that this then becomes a generality not a supported fact.

                              • But the exo's were created by the humans for a long forgotten war. And the Awoken were once humans, who fled the planet to find other planets to live on after the collapse. We know that the Vex have time travel capabilities, so they wouldn't need the traveler to bring them anywhere.
