If you are as pumped as I am for Destiny you know that your diet and exercise may take a hit, I know mine will. I urge each of my fellow guardians to stick/start a diet and get exercise at least 3 days a week, for 30 minutes or more. If the current trend continues, by 2030 50% of American adults will be overweight. That accounts for 115 million people! 5% of adult do some sort of physical activity every day! That stats for children are even more terrifying! Only 1 ion 3 children are physically active every day. Roughly 7.5 hours are spent in front of some sort of screen (playing video games, watching TV, Ipads, etc.). These statistics are frightening to say the least and most gaming communities do not care for these kind of stats or the health risks associated with them. Lets, as a community, change that! Let's change the way people view the gaming community. Let's no longer be apart of those stats. Let the Bungie community become the healthiest in the gaming community and I personally challenge you to exercise at least 3 days a week for 30 minutes or more, change your diet to better help yourself, and most of all become Legend.

  • Does your job count as a workout? I ride a bike to and from work everyday, and my actual job is lifting boxes of varying sizes and weights, all day long.

    • Best non-troll post I've seen today. Stay fit, stay sharp. When I slack off on my routine, I feel it. Sucks getting older. At least get outside and walk guys. I walk at least 3 miles a day to keep good circulation and a regular blood pressure and throw anaerobic exercise in when school isn't -blam!-ing me for time. Destiny WILL diminish my time, a lot. But it'll die down after the first two weeks I'm sure. I'll be playing a lot, for a long time. But the first few weeks are going to be grueling.

    • I'm lucky enough to have a workout room and showers at work. That way I don't have to worry about fighting myself to workout before gaming.

    • Very nice to see a person with a positive contribution to this forum and in general. Exercise is good, but maintaining a healthy diet helps best. Even if instead of soda you drink water you will notice a HUGE difference in your mood and over all feeling.

    • Always! I workout in some form 6 days a week. Just so happens Tuesday is my off day and I didn't even plan it that way. It's really not hard to wake up eat something healthy, throw in 30-60 mins of working out in.. Then you have all the time you want in that day left to play! Or if you work super early just do it when you get home before you turn your game on!

    • Ypou need a healthy diet option as well man. You can be fat an still workout. Doesn't matter how much you workout if you scraf down a pack of hershey bars an 6 packs of little Debbie's butter butters an 14 slices of bologna lol.

        • This is a great post! I am over weight and totally out of shape... Plus severely vitamin D deficient. But otherwise in good physiological condition ( normal cholesterol and blood pressure etc.) After a scare that turned out to be severe anxiety, I've started yoga and I've also started using the xbox fitness. Ive changed my diet drastically, and cut out all drinks besides water. I've also been trying to get more sun since vitamin D deficiency is literally an epidemic now. In just over 4 months I've lost 30lbs and counting... Hopefully soon, I'd really like to join a gym again and start with a more regulated exercise regimen... People attack posts like this as if it is body shaming, fat shaming... Whatever 'shaming' is cool to complain about at the moment... But it's not! The truth of the matter is that you can be happy with who you are while you're overweight. And being overweight isn't always unhealthy. That's fine. No one is saying that fat people are ugly or have any less worth... They are saying that ALL PEOPLE should be smart and responsible and should try to eat well and exercise! You will live longer, you will be healthier, feel better, you will be happier (on a chemical level)... In fact, there is no downside to being healthy! I for one welcome the encouragement and suggest We all try to see what destiny has in store for us when it ends 10 years from now!

              • I work out every day. I get up from bed and walk to the bathroom or my chair and then I lift my controller. Its tiring work man, I can't explain it enough. And then making food, oh my god.....taking those frozen burritos that way like....0.5 LBS? One in each hand, thats a full pound I am lifting! Then carrying it all the way to my microwave and then to my desk when its done. I don't see how anyone has enough energy for anything else. Lol, naw, in all reality yes I do that sort of stuff, but I am a mere 150 on a good day and could use to gain weight, but cant seem to do so. I walk most places though as I don't have a car, so I would say I get a good amount of exercise. Can't say the same for most the US though. Its much worse here than anywhere else as far as I know.
