At this point, America is hopelessly misinformed about Islam. I took Political Islam in college, and while I was trying to learn the differences and histories of various political organizations within Islam, my classmates were literally trying to understand that "Islam" and "Muslim" weren't two different religions, while others were reeling from the fact that they aren't countries!! Not making this up, sadly.
