Many newfoman may not remember this (nothing against you, you just weren't here then), but there existed a time when what you could post on this site was much more restrictive. Even with b.new, it's not nearly as strict as b.old.
Two things you never saw much of then were topics discussing religion and topics discussing politics. Come b.next in late 2012-early 2013, that veil was lifted and now they make up half of the Offtopic forum.
So, point being, should Topics discussing both religion and politics be bannable again?
Disclaimer: this isn't an atack or insult to anyone of any religious belief and or political preference.
EDIT: Since the OP isn't that clear, let me clarify. The OP Is in a way, my take on the subject, but I'm asking for YOUR opinion wether for or against the idea.

由Kamots编辑: 2/4/2015 1:43:15 PMLet's be honest, there was constant conversation about religion and politics. Even though they would get locked/banned every day or so, there would usually be more replies to those threads than any others by the time they were dealt with.

1 回复No. While there will be lots of ignorant hate talk. Very seldomly someone will have an intelligent conversation. And that to me is worth it.

No. I enjoy some of the intelligent conversations I have. And I enjoy the smack down I lay to the nonsense. And this "off topic", it is what we want it to be. Stopping a conversation won't make people smarter, it will leave them to their own ideas. No fresh air = stinky

2 回复由The Cellar Door编辑: 2/3/2015 4:37:25 AMThe posts that existed in those times do not exist now. The quality and quantity are different. The community is different. Shit man, the site functions and layout are different. I'm just saying, it's something to think about before you assert that we should remove "half the topics" that are posted in an offtopic section. Which, I will have to regretfully say, is the offtopic section and not The Flood. I Miss The Flood. Everyone who witnessed it misses it. But what we have now, is a couple members of The Flood, and a new generation of users, and a new generation of a forum. Whether it's better or worse is up to personal discretion, although most including myself would vouch for the latter, if you're here to stay, change is something that you'll have to deal with. Hide the posts you don't like. Simple really.

5 回复A reminder that if you see a topic, post, or user who you don't want to see any more, you can use the hide, report, and mute options.

1 回复Not at all, i'm glad we have more freedom in what we can discuss, and in time as we adjust to these new rules I feel that these subjects will become much more tame in discussion. As you said, before we couldn't utter a peep about these topics, when you open the floodgates after that long of course people are going to use the topics as bait and not discuss them reasonably, but in time the obsession will pass, and those who actually wish to discuss the subjects in a serious and dignified manner will be capable of doing so. Sure you'll always have those, "i'm never wrong" or "you're all idiots for believing what I don't believe" types of people, but as in reality, there's no shortage of them anywhere you go. We can ignore them like we do anyone else who's immaturity isn't worth addressing. We have the time, and we will adapt.

4 回复No. "I don't like Katy Perry so I don't want anyone else talking about her". Does that statement hold enough merit to ban you talking about Katy Perry? Bungie didn't lift the ban and expect us not to talk about it. If you don't like the subject don't partake in it's discussion. Wow! Would you look at that! By simply not joining the conversation you don't have to be a part of it! Who would have known that you had the freedom to partake or not to? "I don't like the taste of oranges so super markets should not be allowed to sell them". No one is forcing you to buy oranges. Oranges are there IF YOU CHOOSE to purchase them.

100% sure these rules should return. Been arguing for this since they changed it. Made such a fuss about it that both ninjas and Bungie reassured me that the community was mature enough to handle it. Well. We certainly proved them wrong.

1 回复I once made a parody thread about toes and got permabanned in 2009. Took months to appeal. I complained to all hell but even I have to admit that strict rules made this place better. They need to return.
