It's been said before but I'll say it again: pulse rifles need some love. It's not that they're terrible, exactly, it's just that there's no real reason to use them over any of the other weapon types. I've even tried out the high impact Three Little Words, and while it's good, my B-Line Trauma is better, as is my Vanquisher. I'd say that pulse rifles could use a slight damage buff, but I'm not sure that's quite enough to give a real reason to use them. I would suggest a tighter shot grouping for legendary pulse rifles and above. I'd also suggest that quite a few of the pulse rifle perks are rather underwhelming (secret round and headseeker, I'm looking at you), and, for some reason, some of the best perks, such as outlaw and zen moment (not usually my taste but it would synergize well with burst fire) , are mysteriously absent from legendary pulse rifles. These are my suggestions. Take them, or leave them, it's still hard to deny that pulse rifles could use a buff.

The problem with your standard Pulse Rifles is they hold a similar stat paradigm to AR's: shit impact with decent to awesome rate of fire. Sure they can have a better range (usually), but look at Praedyth's Timepiece: a raid PR that blows donkeys. Sure it has arc, and a great rate of fire, but it has practically no impact whatsoever. That mixed with the fact it has no where near the the number of rounds on a clip makes it garbage to your standard AR, which is stupid. If you want a decent PR, you can find them - but they are commons, uncommons and rares for PvP only. Red Death has some balls, but that is few and fare between for PvE. Give us some damn PR's with bite (i.e. IMPACT!). That BR was a beast for Halo 3 and Halo 4 - why it is such a shit weapon type now is beyond me...

1 回复I agree for legendaries. But the Exotics are COMPLETELY ok. Nothing beats Red Death in Crucible or in the last part of the Crota Raid. And Bad Juju is just amazing! It never runs out of ammo, never reloads, and gives you super while mowing down hordes.

由albinomachina编辑: 2/5/2015 1:40:12 AMI started a Warlock build today, and was planning on using pulse rifles with her. After I started using them, I can't believe how bad they are. I know I'm using low-end versions at level 7, but compared to the other weapons I've used at similar levels, they are terrible. I am literally having to force myself to use them. I'm hoping it will get better when I hit 16, at least then I will get to use my Stranger's Rifle. At 20 I'll swap to Bad JuJu, so maybe I'll like them more by then. But compared to either an AR or scout rifle, pulse rifles have been really neglected. Which is kind of sad, considering how proud of their BR's Bungie was back in the day. edit - My biggest complaint with pulse rifles is they have no impact what-so-ever. Its hard to kill the bigger stuff with a low impact weapon.

The oversoul eridict (unknown spelling) is a great idea but is terrible in practice. As soon as a knight puts his shield up you have to reload and by the time you're finished with the reload the shield is gone so you never really get a chance to shoot through his shield and get that feeling of accomplishment by owning the knight through his shield. A buff or a giant clip would make that a fun pulse rifle.

Agreed, PRs definitely need an Impact boost so that Time to Kill is at least equivalent to other primary weapon choices; this can be verified by Bungie: only need a Timer/Stopwatch/etc. which is built into most computers, from watches to desktops ;-)

由UnlivedShot编辑: 2/3/2015 4:40:03 AMThey absolutely need a buff. From my time playing and full upgrading different pulse rifles I feel they are lack luster in pvp and pve. Some of the biggest issue is for one kill times I finding are way to low on these weapons making them inferior to almost weapon type in game. This is further complicated by the fact that they don't have the magazine size to deal with more than a few mobs at a time which is compounded when you miss and the slow reload speed. Not to mention the low damage makes it take 1 at best 3 at worst burst to kill lower tier enemies like vandals and dregs. 9 bullets out of a 27 bullets to kill one enemy is bad. Compared to a scout rifle in with or with out field scout you only need 1 to 3 shots on similar targets with mag sizes of 19 or even 27. Then is pvp they just can't compete. At close range and mid range an auto rifle or hand cannon will destroy you. At distance well gl at kill a guy using a scout rifle. What I think they need to do is buff impact a bit and increase base magazine size.
-
Everything you say is very true. They kill things slower then a scout rifle, expend more ammo then an auto and have shorter range then either an auto or handcannon, so why bother using one? I really have no answer to that. This might be circular though, pulse rifles are useless enough that most people don't use them and since people don't use them, they are low priority for a fix.
-
Full support from me. I think pulse rifles should be in between autos and scouts. The impact is laughable, the ranges can be bested by certain hand cannons, and aside from Bad Juju I end up trashing every pulse rifle I get, legendary or otherwise (note that Bad Juju is the only exotic pulse I've received so far, so I can't vouch for Red Death, as bad as I want it). So yeah, it would be nice for pulse rifles to receive buffs in impact, range and maybe magazine size. And even with Bad Juju, it's still only good for a swarm of low level adds. Taking on anything outside of the Cosmodrome, and maybe certain areas of the Moon with this is basically futile.

4 回复Indeed, other than the Red Death (praise it) and Bad Juju, PR are almost unusable compared to the other weapon types.
-
3 回复Yup - true that. Bad juju nearly (nearly) got buffed to a usable level. Pulse rifles are simply lame at present.

2 回复There are a few good ones, but it's true that they could really use a buff. I'd say the shots should be tighter, longer range, with a general impact buff. I'd love to use my Bad Juju or Edict more often, but most of the time I'm better off with a handcannon or auto rifle.
