Playing the story mode just confirmed that the decision was made to pull story missions from the original launch and package them into the DLC. I'm guessing this was done to save dev money while justifying DLC pricing. And the thing that actually upsets me is that there has literally been no work done to incorporate the Dark Below story into a larger narrative structure or even try to hide the fact that they straight ripped this mission out of the game and made you pay for it again. I'm supposed to believe that Rasputin has been playing that music for three months and I'm just now able to save him? Or that, at the end of the mission, the screens flash that repeated teasing images of planets your guardian will be visiting and ends with an image of a Vex goblin. Why would we need a teaser after we met the Vex?
As weird as this sounds, I'd be less disappointed in the DLC if it were the Crucible maps and Croata's End right now.
