Each update has been designed to squeeze out the solo players. Exactly why bungie is doing this I don't know but it is not an accident.
Solos now struggle to earn anything other than mats and they have just been devalued.
In short it is a quick kick in the balls for solos.

Basically Bungie looked at their glory days with Halo 2 multiplayer - more time was spent in that, than in campaign. Fast forward to Destiny an always online shared world shooter with multi player. IMO Destinys PvE has more people clocking up hours than the PvP. This is because the PvP maps and game types are not as good as Bungie used to produce. Everything feels like it's pushed towards an eSport, small to medium sized maps. Weapons and supers pushing players into a more competitive arena instead of a more tactical game play, and fun game types. They wanted PvP to be as glorious as H2 MP, hence lack of campaign story. This has slightly backfired due to the type of world they created, and thus they are gradually pushing PvE players towards PvP by various means or to leave and go play a different game. I used to spend many hours in H2 MP, and only did the campaign twice. With Destiny, I hardly touch PvP as I prefer PvE (even though it lacks story) and strikes - though I've yet to do a raid.

again nobody is complaining about teams playing and having a great time. Nobody is trying to take anything from you . All Solos are asking for is to revert to the game they purchased, which included reasonable weekly challenges. It is as if you don't want to understand. soo...... nobody is asking for solo raids of any kind at all. All they are asking is that Bungie stop creating new barriers to solo play and fix some of the changes to make our weeklies more fun again. A huge number of solos and more casual players don't have level 30+ armor and a vast array of exotic and maxed weapons at our disposal , many don't play 3 chars, we might have just one guy around 25-29 and a few good weapons.
