Marathon's lack of ambient sounds, surplus of ambushes, and Art style, music, and Enemy intelligence combine to create a surprisingly scary, yet enjoyable game. I have to say, it's really well done. Bungie should do a remake. I'd love to be able to play online. Xargon or Gex are also up there, as classic side scrollers with amazing art style. Is Myst freeware?
