I'm also not smart enough to know that when referencing written material, you refer to it at all times in the present tense, because at any time you may re-read it, and as such it is always occurring in the present. Even dead characters in books may be referred to in the present tense, because at any point you may refer back to a portion of the narrative during which they are alive. So when you said that I "reeked" of ignorance, I'm sure that you meant my comment "reeks" of ignorance. But I'm too ignorant to know the difference. How silly of me.
