That's no fun, sorry to hear that. Hunters are great for VoG. Don't let someone tell you otherwise because their just talking about exploit nonsense. Golden gun is amazing for oracles on Templar/portal phase on Atheon. Every class has a key role in the raid. My clan raids with two of each class and we almost always have a easy smooth run. We do occasionally like to mess around at times but that's all about having fun.
