What I think is Activision decided to gut it. If you look at the trailers from a year ago they showcase areas fully rendered in game that aren't in the game. They have shown a social hub in the Reef, Saturns rings in a cutscene of a ship traveling down to the planet, and a Forest like area. They also had said Mercury was to be in the game as a lush garden world. I think that Bungie was making something special and then Activision came in and said "what can we do to maximize profits?"

  • Personally I am sad to see how little of the personallity was kept from what was shown prior to release. I don't have an issue with the amount of content as much as the overall story. The choices just seem lackluster and uninspired. It's too bad because it could have made this game much much more than what it is now.

  • The original story was that your guardian was to be abducted by the Crow (renamed as the queens brother) Then you and the crow travel doing missions on Venus, Mars,Saturn, Mercury and the Moon. Along the course of those missions they found out that the Speaker and the Traveler were actually the Darkness and the Hive were performing a ritual to resurrect the Traveler so he can once again wreak havoc. Concept art of the "Black Garden" was originally kind of spherical like the inside of the Traveler and the last mission of the old storyline was to venture inside the heart of the Traveler and kill it. This was originally a post in Reddit that got taken down forcibly, but screencaps had been taken and it is too late to bury it. Now why did someone get upset enough with this post to have it taken down? The only answer I can think of is because it's all true. I think that would have actually been a good story.
