Have you looked at the Grimoire card and actually activated the upgrade? like on weapons and armour? Took me a while to figure out

I don't know what you mean. I have looked at the card. Before I was Rank II the bonus was blue, and once I reached Rank II the Bonus turned gold. It lists Rank I and Rank II as complete with full gold circles around each. There is no where to activate or interact on the cards except to switch between the text and statistics portions.
