Or how about when Deej mentioned in a weekly update that one of the Devs held of a Hive horde with "an ancient sword he found in a long forgotten gorge while his fireteam ran away screaming" then in the following weekly update he said he got in trouble for talking about it?

As I talked about with somebody else, the big thing about Destiny with characters is balance and choices. Their melee abilities are a big part of those balance and choices. If they include melee weapons they have to be able to keep that balance. As long as they find a way to do it I am sure they will add it.
