A much more reasonable explanation than the one about the Master Chief's armor being altered by nanobots.
However, I don't understand why they've bothered to come up with all these explanations to justify the changes they've made. Why not just say that it's a simple retcon? Just 343i's interpretation of Halo's Universe?
I actually prefer the look of the new Grunts, and I do like the look of the Master Chief's armor in the Reclaimer Saga too.

But I'm worried that this will establish a precedent and any discrepancies 343 can't/doesn't answer will cause even greater fan hatred.
