Fair enough
But how about they let us keep our gear (not all of it, just what is equipped to our character) and then they reset our characters to level 1.
That way, we have to level up the same as any new player to use our gear, and the new player would most likely get similar gear to ours by the time they reach level 8.
The only issue I foresee is if they buff/nerf/remove something.
Thoughts?

It sounds like on OK idea. Just the stuff you have equipped? But this wouldn't do much cause you can't equip things that are above level 8 and you'll just outgrow that gear by level 9. Also the community couldn't have known to equip the gear they wanted. It would also basically nullify any of the gear you pick up at level 8 with the revamped loot system. It'd just be a weird level to progress through but this is more of a personal opinion than objective reasoning.

Let me clarify by what I mean with "equipped" anything on or in your characters immediate inventory (those 9 slots that show up when you hover over a gear slot....ie. when I hover over my characters helmet slot, 9 other helmets pop up that I could switch it with) And I agree, bungee would have/should have told us what to do if we wanted to keep something

That was one of the things I mentioned though, maybe you weren't [i]supposed[/i] to get some of that stuff. Maybe through exploits or changes in the beta. I am absolutely sure Bungie appreciates all your hard work because well end up with an even better game for September :)
