The way the voice settings are in game suggests a proximity chat feature that I just haven't seen (or in this case heard). perhaps, and this is very unlikely, no one on Xbone has a mic or is willing to talk to someone who isn't on there friends list. however I cannot believe that is the case. With the implementation of public events that anyone in the wasteland can join a non-fireteam based chat is vital, not only for callouts and strategizing but just for the simple social aspect of the game. There have been countless times where I found a loot crate and wanted to scream at the top of my lungs, "HEY %USERNAME% THERE'S A CRATE OVER HERE!" and could not. As well the implementation of a chat window, including on console, would be nice. The Smartglass app or the Destiny Companion app could both be used to send text messages in chat, or for the 360 and ps3 the chat pads could do the same function. Making the chat system similar to that of Halo 3 would be more than ideal.
