Actually ps4 and PC/XBO and PC are both cross compatible on several games including Destiny. Just not PS4 and XBO (yet). Talks are in play, Microsoft is on board and made effort, just waiting on Sony to respond

But why? The only reason given was resolution between new systems and old...why can't I play again ps4 on my Xbox 1? Those systems are that far off...

Because it's like cross platform you miss the thing by a few millimeters the system might fry it's not a boat. It was never built for another console to play with you.
