Explain to me Sauron's powers. From the little I know he doesn't seem that badass.

He can vanish and reappear anywhere in an instant, can kill you instantly with a spell, can conjure creatures and weapons from nothing, and he can possess you. And if by some miracle you managed to stab him, he can't really die because he has his soul locked away in 7 hidden objects. Plus, he could use magic to heal himself instantly.

Sauron is a shapeshifter and can perform low-level reality warping. He is also capable of mind controlling (evident through his armies) and is capable of manipulation similar to that of the Primordial. He is a Maia, which is a step below God, so in essense, he's immortal. Even if Voldy got the ring, he'd just become another one of Sauron's pawns.

If the ring is destroyed he dies with it. If Voldemort could get the ring from him, he'd just need to apparate to Mount Doom and it'd be over.

His mind control power does not work like that. Like the Primordial, talking to him will have you influence. He has an influence that acts like a mind control. Which is why he could control all those orcs and trolls, because without him, they'd be disorganized. Also, I'd like to see Voldy get the ring, even try to get close to Sauron. In the Hobbit, we've seen feats of his, which equals passing through wall as a shadow and being able to break powerful magical barriers. He's also capable of telekinesis, seeing him throw Gandalf around and blast apart the walls around him. >Assuming Voldy knows about the ring and it's way to be destroyed. >Assuming Voldy knows where Mount Doom is.
