Looking at buying my first real car at the end of year, taking advantage of sales of older models to make room for new ones. This'll be the car I move across the country and start my post-college life with, so not some Craigslist beater for two grand. One of the only features I'm really keen on is a hatchback; I like to dive, bike, hike, etc., and having easy access to gear is really useful. Preferably a 4-door, though I'm not really picky about that.
I know next to nothing about cars, but I know there are plenty on here that do. Hook a turkey up, Flood. Budget is around $15,000.

2 回复While we're on the subject, I see everyone talking about the Ford Focus and not the Ford Fiesta even though they're rather similar. Any particular reason why? I'm thinking about getting a 2014 Ford Fiesta 4D Titanium (Hatchback)

1 回复There's plenty of gen 2 Mazda 3 hatches laying around dealerships, the new body style just came out so you can find a good deal on the last ones. Get the 2012 Hatchback with the Skyactiv engine and manual transmission. Make sure it's a touring edition or higher spec. /thread. 2 回复Given your price range I'd suggest a used Volkswagen Golf. They're fantastic cars. Easy to fix. Hard to break. Drive well. Get good gas mileage. And they're hatchbacks. Try to get an all-wheel or 4-wheel drive if you can; it makes for better handling than just front-wheel drive. Manual cars are cheaper than automatic, but that's a matter of personal preference. I myself have got a 2007 Toyota RAV4 (which is a hatchback) and it is a phenomenal car. It's never broken down on me after 110,000 miles. Still runs like a charm. It's one of the best handling cars I've ever driven (and I've driven a LOT of cars). I've got room for 5 people in seats plus room in the back/trunk for 3 adults to sit comfortably. I especially love mine because I got the "Limited" version which comes with a specially-tuned JBL amp and 9-point JBL speakers: 4 tweeters, 4 mids and a 10" subwoofer. I busted the subwoofer listening to Bassnectar a few years ago and replaced it with a 14" JL subwoofer in an enclosure (don't remember which model) and a 1000 watt Kenwood sub amp to power that beast. I absolutely love hatchbacks for some reason. Don't get me wrong: I love all cars. There's just something special to me about hatchbacks.

4 回复Another question to ask, do you have to have a car, or is a small truck/crossover good?

1 回复Ford Focus ST, Golf GTI, '14 WRX or STi, or Mazda Speed 3. Those are the more well known "Hot Hatches" if you want to have fun in the car you're driving.

3 回复由GHOST270编辑: 7/7/2014 2:57:11 AMDude, if you bike, hike and do all the crap i do ( along with transporting a 12 foot kayak), get a truck. Not a gas guzzling Hemi like i do, but a small one. A used Tacoma with decent mileage can be easily had on your budget. Heck , even a decent Pennstar V6 Ram Quad cab would work and still get 20-24 MPG. MDS Hemi's are approaching that mileage as well with 390 HP. I bought a 2007 Quad Cab Ram with an MDS Hemi in excellent condition for 12k back in 2010. Getting a 2011-2012 now would be comparable. If you're dead stuck on a car though, look heavily at the Hyundai Veloster. My friend fresh out of college got one and he loves it. His has the 4cyl with a 5/6 spd standard and it's pretty quick. Aside from that, look for a VW GTI.

5 回复由DelinedA编辑: 7/7/2014 2:09:14 AMWith $15 you probably want a lower level Sedan. Such as Ford Focus or Honda Civic or something if you're going for something new.
