Wow. I didn't think any remake of Ascension could surpass Pinnacle's badness, but 343i proved me wrong again. All of the changes they've made are completely unnecessary and do not preserve the "original spirit" of the map. Infact, some of them are even lore breaking, like the Halo ring; it's far too narrow, unlike before, which means they've retconned yet another aspect of the canon. Looks like Halo 2 Anniversary will be a flop.

You know that Ascension is higher up than it was originally in Halo 2, right? That's why the ring looks narrower, you're POV is from farther away. Haloesdad?
