The darkness. I dont believe we will find who/ what the darkness is in the first installment of Destiny. They can tease us with that for a while. And they should. Maybe a teaser at tr end of campaign. But i think its the opposite of the traveler and they have been fighting for a very long time. Before our golden age started. I think the traveler tried to give us and the fallen. And other races. A golden age. To stop the darkness. And made its stand with us. Almost dying in the process. Just my opinion. E3 could change all that.
